I've been to this cafe in between reviewing it nearly 4 years ago and now, just not very often, but still only thought to update comments here now. They've expanded range of tea offerings slightly, splitting a prior slightly above average quality range into basics...and somewhat better offerings, with a price split that relates. That's an improvement; people focused on value can still get an inexpensive pot of decent tea and people into better tea have options they'll need to pay more for. The range was around 250 and then 400 baht per a very small pot, if I'm remembering right. It's fair; those are much more novel offerings than better coffee-shop drinks. All the same being a local and knowing where to get the best deals on dry teas I wouldn't be stopping by very often. Then again I'm not much for cafes in general anyway. As far as another review goes saying they don't instruct you on how to make the tea our server did mention a recommended brewing time. Really it works to vary that per preference, and extend it slightly after a number of infusions, and I suppose people might screw those parts up. It's not rocket science though; you add hot water to the pot and empty it, and timing is the only part to get wrong. Someone I was with did get it way wrong, not minding the instructions, and experienced overbrewed tea, which is one way to learn to use a shorter infusion time. Basics level tea offerings were of moderate quality. Different people would relate to that in terms of value differently, on the cost and character / aspects side. To me it seemed reasonable given the range of two option groups. If someone is really interested in trying teas, and drinking better tea, pushing through a learning curve on their own would work better, but that does take a bit of doing. They sell tea to take out here, but there are other options in Chinatown, they're just not at all easy to sort out.More

Best place for high quality tea in Thailand. The owner knows how to select the best tea from each places to serve his customers. The price reflects the quality of what you're ordering. The staff helped explain to us the differences of each tea. Since...it's a small tea salon, the owner can maintain the consistent quality. We went there many times through our years in Bangkok. Never once disappointed.More

After getting drenched on a boat ride we walked along Yaowarat and stumbled upon this lovely place. It has a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere and a really varied choice of tea and delicious cakes. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely return.

A large selection of quality teas from all over Asia, Oolong, Assam, roasted and fresh, Sencha and Macha.....all served by a knowledgable team and fairly priced. True, the team does not speak much English, but we were there twice and managed with smiles and patience....The menu is in English and has sufficient info on it. Did not order cakes and they were super nice to offer us savoury Japanese snacks. Highly recommended if you are a fan of tea and if you are in need of a quiet place in the middle of hectic Chinatown.More

I'm a Chinese gong-fu style tea geek so I know how to use a yixing clay pot and a gaiwan, I know how to pour and how long to brew for etc. But if I hadn't been a connoisseur myself I wouldn't have had a...clue about what to do. The boss and the waitress really do not understand or speak any English. It's all hands communication. I was looking at other customers brewing the wrong way (steeping for to long, dripping everywhere ...) and then making funny faces when drinking bad, bitter and astringent tea. If you go here, watch a youtube video on 'gong-fu Chinese tea ceremony'. There are many videos to select from. I wanted to ask the staff about some Thai varieties of tea but they couldn't understand that I was saying Thailand and not Taiwan. I know 12 Chinese characters and I'm now fully convinced that my Chinese beats their English. It's surprising because the tea room is located in the very touristy area of Chinatown. I drank Mi Lang Xiang Dancong oolong (for other geeks out there). It was top quality, fruity, pronounced bright notes and full bodied flavour. I got 15 steepings. Pastries were dry, bland and uninteresting.More
