We went there after finishing Zumba class and wanted to make reservation at 1 pm but they don’t take reservation after noon; just walk in. Reasonably priced, decent portions and delicious. Authentic thai home styled dishes served in a bright and airy dining room; with...some outdoor seating. Convenient location next to the Commons.More

Authentic thai food, original taste in small street next to “The Commons”. Even if it doesn’t look after a typical local restaurant - a great place to come. Try Salt fried chicken with lemongrass👍

We have been to Khao Jao many times and it never ever disappoints. This is not the normal place you would expect in Thong Lor; it is family run, incredible value and you can bring your own booze with no corkage charge - although I...advise you should add something to your tip for this pleasure. The furniture is basic but comfortable, the Southern Thai focused food is stunning, the staff are friendly and helpful. Do not expect high levels of English apart from on the menu. If in doubt about whether to try something then do.........all the portion sizes are quite small but very reasonably priced. On our last visit there were 5 of us and we had 12 dishes. The omelettes are superb, chicken wings are perfect, and if you like spicy and adventurous try the Kua Kling and the Khung Sataw. I have never had a bad dish at this restaurant and if TripAdvisor allowed six stars it would get six, or maybe even putting an "s" in front of the word even! There are not many places in the world where four people can arrive at a restaurant armed with two or three bottles of nice wine, have it opened for free, wine glasses provided, feast on some of Thailand's finest cooking and then receive a bill for around 1,000THB - $35. Khao Jao does shut at around 9pm so make sure you do not overstay your welcome. They open at 10am every day and they need some time off! If you live in Bangkok this will become a favourite place and if you are here on holiday come here in the first few days as I guarantee you will want a return visit. This is the type of restaurant that oozes both quality and simplicity. Enjoy it while it lasts.More

A good place for lunch. We usually go there for lunch. The food are good in a reasonable price. The staffs understand little English. Better chances going with thai friends, easy to get message across otherwise can be surprised when you get something else than...you ordered for.More

Can't complain. This place offers good food for a super reasonable price in the middle of Thong Lor. Common Thai food, yeah, but tasty with a beer in your hand.

Was there with a thai friend who recommend me this place. as she had a friend staying nearby. we ordered the fried chicken wings, coconut milk soup & a Thai omelette with pork. Thought the food there was excellent, very asian food styled and quick...service though the restaurant was packed. Saw alot of couples & after work dinner gathering there. was shocked when i got my bill! is nothing more than a street food stall price! maybe even cheaper than other places though is located in a hi-so district. Be sure to drop by this place if you stay around! Cause I will be. for sure. and will most prob have more than a meal here!More

The dishes we got here were very good indeed. It's off the main road so you can sit inside or outside with some relative peace and quiet and the staff were happy to respond to any requests. Going back tonight!

I hesitated to write about this place because I love it so much that I don't want it over-run by people and then have no space for my regular visits, but I realised that that was giving me too much credit, and anyway, Khao Jao...deserves all the kudos it gets. The place is small but perfectly located and nicely designed. The glass walls that allow you to look in all day, provide a welcoming glow at night, and it is situated in the midst of enough greenery to look like it has been there forever. The interior does have some of that rustic, faded wood style that is popular around Bangkok, but it this case it looks genuine and fits well. One wall is covered with Pez dispensers and other vintage toys which I believe are for sale. The food is amazingly good and surprisingly reasonably priced for the area. They have a great selection of greens, fish and some amazing soups but beware that some dishes may be quite spicy as most of the clientele is Thai. I would highly recommend the Fish and Lotus Stem soup if you can handle a little heat. If you do go for dinner, remember that unlike most places, Khao Jao closes at 8.30pm so you will have be there by 8pm at the latest to get any food. Try it and you will love it!More

We went as a family and tried a few dishes to share. All dishes were very good! The staff were very friendly but be warned, this place can get very busy. We paid around 100b for each dish. One other side note, they do not...serve beer. If you are in the area, stop in, you will not be dissappointed. I would definately go back.More

When I wrote this review, the map is wrong. Actually, this little restaurant is located in Soi Thong Lor 17 (a street branch inside Sukhumvit 55 Rd.) next to The Commons Dining Mall. As the owner uses his own land to open a restaurant, he...could cut the cost of each plate down to an unbelievable price when comparing to its spicy Southern Thai food cuisine cousins in this trendy area like Kua Kling Pak Sod, Phuket Town, or Baan Ice. The best thing is that many dishes taste equally good to those pricey dining places.More

more cafe that restaurant, but with simple Thai food and great service. The layout is simple and very clean, the staff always smile and are happy when you return,it can be a bit hard to find this place if you do not know the area. Costs of the...meals are cheap for this location and also always fresh. The food can take a while when they are busy and it might not all come at the same time, but this is very Thai.More

Let's keep it brief here. Things are priced reasonably at this restaurant. You can hardly find anything at this price in Thonglor nowadays. Decent Thai food. A rather nice place for comfy weekend meals. Forget and ignore services here. They can be cold and bland.

This is probably one of the best Thai restaurants that I've come across in years. Food was fresh, tasteful and was made with high quality ingredients. Anything you pick from the menu will simply score a five star. Whether you're travelling solo, as a couple...or as a family, you can pick and choose dishes to suit your taste. However, most of the dishes are quite hot and spicy, so make sure you're up for the challenge. They shut pretty early, last order is taken at 20.15More
