It's over a year since our last visit to Steve's & I am pleased to say "It is as good as ever" There may have been a few changes to the menu but overall the content is very much the same & as good as before. One welcome change is that they now stay open throughout the afternoon during the... More

Great little place on the river. You can arrive/leave by boat as it has its own jetty. Owner super friendly and went out do her way to find 6 of us a table even through they were pretty busy. Had to take shoes off to go in & plenty of Thai people eating there as well as tourists. Everything we... More

After seeing the reviews on trip advisor we booked a table in advance. As with other reviews we struggled to find the restaurant, and even ended up on the wrong side of the water and arrived about 20 minutes late. Food was excellent and portions a very good size. Good value for money and a lovely ambience.

we were there for a business diner with my husband colleagues; many foods could be shared, great varieties, reasonable prices and cheerful waiters. Good place for entertaining groups of friends or relatives! can have big table! Good food and tasty! Good view on the chao praya!

We were recommended this local food spot from our hotel staff (Casa Nithra). Despite it being in a tough to find location (esp if you decide to walk from your hotel), it was well worth the struggle. When we first arrived, we were asked to take off our shoes which is outside the normal for us in the USA but... More

Great menu, excellent standard of food, top class service. A fine array of southern Thai dishes, Isaan dishes and general Thai fare.

Finding this place on your own is a bit difficult but once you have cracked the code you will feel like a good spy. It's across a temple yard, down a winding narrow lane way and not broadly known to taxi divers. Fortunately we took Steve' phone number and our taxi was able to zero in successfully. Well worth the... More

Great food in a lovely location overlooking the river. It took a while to find (round the temple, down a street and along an alley) but the location and atmosphere are worth it. We waited a while for a table (sat evening). Shoes are left at the entrance. Food was good (vegetarian) and arrived quickly. Meal was not as cheap... More

We spotted this from the ferry near stop 15. Not the easiest of walks, as it is on the opposite side of the canal. But persist up the road across the canal, through the wet market and the Wat complex you arrive at a gate that takes you to a stunning view of the river. The three dishes we had... More

Reading the reviews of Steve Cafe, which is near our guesthouse, we headed there after a hot and sticky day's sightseeing. it's right on the river, located in an old house, we had a good welcome from the staff and a very refreshing, if overpriced, lemon soda on arrival. All downhill from there.... anodyne muzak blared from the speakers, detracting... More

Staying in Dusit

Neighborhood Profile
When wandering around the Dusit Palace grounds, you'd almost forget you're still in a Southeast-Asian city. The Renaissance-style buildings and leafy gardens wouldn't be out of place in an European capital, and the serenity here is in stark contrast with the chaotic city life outside of its complex walls. Dusit is one of Bangkok's oldest districts, and while the rest of Bangkok is modernising at a rapid pace, Dusit seems to have stood the test of time. Come here to find family businesses in traditional shophouses, small-scale local markets and streets unfazed by modern city life.
