A glass of champagne and tower of scones with friends on a sunny afternoon is heaven. And the staff happily bring more jam and cream if you run out!

In February it was still under repair so we could not have tea time there, but it is a beautiful room.

I was at this place just this afternoon, and I'd say that I wasn't treated equivalently to how much I paid or what they are, which is the legendary 5 stars luxury hotel's venue. I showed up at the lounge and had been waiting for the staff to escort me to the table, but no one had even a perception... More

When you think of the venue for the afternoon tea in Bangkok, I'm sure the name of Authors' Lounge pops up right way. It is the best yet elegance venue to have the afternoon tea in town. Authors' Lounge is surrounding in white tone under the beautiful glass roof, and of course under 4 of the Oriental private lounges. They... More

We went for tea in the Author's Lounge at the Mandarin Hotel. Loved the pictures on the wall of all the authors who had stayed there. We were in the James Michenir room which was great as Texans. Tea was nice. A great change of pace

At the end of a super Sunday brunch at Lord Jim’s (expensive but great value), the restaurant manager told me my photograph was hanging in the recently refurbished Authors’ Lounge. I felt sure he had made a mistake and the photo was of someone else looking like me. But no: there I am framed and benign on the wall of... More

Its a very good & beautifully decorated Restaurant but very expensive, had Afternoon tea which was good but very expensive as it was over 1500TB, they will serve you tea of choice, different pastries, & sandwiches & mini desserts, which tasted good. Excellent service.

I was so excited to finally have the chance to experience afternoon tea here. I love high tea at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong so looked forward to this and was not disappointed. I booked well in advanced to ensure it was locked in. We booked the early sitting and it was quiet. We could enjoy our lunch with... More

Had a leisure afternoon tea at Authors' Lounge on a Sunday afternoon with my friend and family. It starts at 12noon and we left at around 3pm. We ordered 2 Western set and 1 Thai set which is enough for 3 adults and 1 child. The tea area is bright and clear and there is a book about the history... More

Staying in Silom

Neighborhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
