I first visited Tummy Yummy a few years ago, and it felt like I had stumbled across a hidden gem which wasn't that well known. The service was awesome, and the food amazingly good.
So of course when I visited Bangkok again, it was one...of the first places I wanted to try.
Sadly things seem to have deteriorated a bit since then. The food was not as tasty as before, both in terms of quality and taste, and the service was a little less friendly.
The staff were certainly not rude, but were not as attentive and cared less about service
It was a bit of a disappointment to be honest. I'd go again, but it's no longer this awesome place I thought from my first visit.More
Ordered Tom Kai soup to start, 2chicken dishes for main. They clearly thought it was a fast food joint, bringing the soup and then both mains only 5 minutes later. We sent them away, and said we wanted our 1st course first! After we finished...the soup, they bought the mains, but had just kept Ghent warm, so the crispy chicken was soggy and horrible. We sent that back and after 10 mins, got a crispier one. But the chicken was in tiny pieces and was very low quality. The Jungle Chicken was OK but nothing special, and same for the soup. All very home made, by someone who could do home cooking but had no flair. We also had two fruit juices, and bill overall was more than 1350 baht, felt overpriced as well as 2nd rate.More
On our first night in Bangkok we wanted some authentic Thai food without the hustle and bustle of the city. We discovered this quiet, peaceful restaurant near our hotel and it gave us just what we wanted. We went at 7pm on a weekday evening...and it was relatively quiet, so our booking wasn’t necessary although I saw on another review it was. We had spring rolls and the special coconut prawns to start. Both were very good. Then chicken pad Thai for main which was again very good. Service was quiet - I’m not sure they spoke much English, but they were very kind and relaxed. Not overly attentive, but not in a rude way, just very chilled. There was light jazz playing in the background which created a nice atmosphere. Prices are medium for the city but it is one of the only small traditional restaurants we could find in the area. Pad thai cost 240 thb. A lovely meal all around.More
Tummy Yummy is a small restaurant in a converted house operating for eleven years. I was there with a group of six. When we arrived, the air conditioning was too cold, but the manager promptly corrected this on request. She provided personal attention throughout the...evening that made our visit feel extra special. Rather than ordering from the menu, we asked her to make some recommendations. Everything she suggested was delectable, especially the spicy mango salad with crispy fish, and the steamed sea bass. The quantities of each dish would not normally be enough for sharing with a group our size, but this meant a greater variety of dishes was served. Overall, the quantity of food was perfect and the flavours married beautifully. Cost for six people was 4,500 Thai Baht, including a bottle of wine (1,400 TB) and 10% service charge. Tummy Yummy is in a quiet location on a side street and offers a nice atmosphere that lends itself to good conversation. I would happily dine here again.More
Food was absolutely excellent. The Tom kha soup was amazing! It was a charming spot near our hotel. Service wasn’t perfect because they were not very attentive, but we’ve noticed that across Southeast Asia (so it’s really not specific to this restaurant).
