While in Bangkok we had some great meals that ran the gamut of price and refinement from an unbelievably inexpensive street food dinner with local friends at one end, to a pricier and exquisite dinner at Celadon at the other. We were staying at the Sukhothai, we had read very good reviews for Celadon, and we wanted a special dinner... More

This restaurant gives all the flavours and many Thai dishes in a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, along with traditional Thai dancers. Food quality and variety was excellent.

By Bangkok standards it is expensive, but otherwise comparable to eating out at London prices. Not for those looking for a cheap holiday, stay in the backpackers area. We had the set menu, basically due to our inability to choose from such an extensive menu and not wanting to miss dishes we had not previously tried. Great option, lots of... More

It was recommended as one if the best restaurant in Bangkok: it is inside one of the best hotel in city and the welcome is in perfect thay style! As starter I had a soup (bit spicy but delicious), my husband took a plate of various appetizers (very good), followed by two classic dishes of thay cuisine, both very well... More

One of the better Thai restaurants in Bkk. Food is good. Ambience is good. Service is good. Price is a little on the high side.. But ok since everything is good.

This is my second time here, the first was way back in 1999. Was sceptical at first and expected it to be pricey and probably underwhelmed Thai food for foreigners and visitors. But, although old, the Sukhothai Hotel and Celadon exuded a distinctive charm and very tranquil vibe of a true understated 5 star establishment. Immaculately kept with none of... More

I'm not sure what is happening at the Sukhothai, but all of its restaurant outlets seem to be slipping. Celadon used to offer some of the best Thai food in the Kingdom, but not anymore, I'm afraid. The food is pretty average and overpriced. The atmosphere, however, remains comfortable. I'd recommend leaving the hotel grounds and eating elsewhere.

We have been to this restaurant four times over the years, but last night felt particularly enjoyable with excellent company, good food and prompt service. My wife chose chicken satay sticks for her appertiser while I selected crab sausages with chilli sauce. She then proceeded with fried crab, followed by a scoop of passionfruit sorbet which was flavoursome and tamarind... More

Without booking, we walked in to Celadon for a table for two. The restaurant is situated in Sukhothai Hotel off Sathon Tai Road. Despite heavy traffic on the main road, the hotel is just an escape from the hustle and bustle world of Bangkok. The restaurant is housed in a separate Thai-style building surrounded by lotus pools. The ambience truly... More

The service, ambience and design are impeccable - just what you'd expect from the Sukhothai, however the food fares less well. Typical Thai fare nicely presented, but at 5star prices.

Staying in Sathorn

Neighborhood Profile
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
