For Jazz Lovers

Location - just across from Lumpini Park near the junction of Soi Lang Suan. There are a couple of other hideouts located along the same stretch of road, but not all offering Jazz. Comes in handy if Brown Sugar is full. Food and Drinks - really nothing spectacular about the food or drinks but... read more

Nice place, ok the waitress is not habile at speaking english, but this place is full of locals & we don't go in Thailand to feel like home. The drinks a more expensive that the onesyou'll buy in other bars, the food is great and the bands are surprisingly amazing. Anyway, great place to spend an evening & more.

The only bad thing is the drinks are pricy. 280 for a Long Island and 250 for a beer. But remember you are getting a free show, too, so you are paying for that, kind of. The back deck by the canal is actually relaxing. You can still hear the music and can talk to each other easily. Nice staff.

Overall, it was a good night with great people and great music! Wish I could write a bit more but after a few drinks my... More

Went with a friend on her last night in Bangkok. Got there before music started. Excellent cocktail menu. All food was good. Excellent female vocalist in the band. Only complaint was pricey.

Went to Brown Sugar with another musician/producer who was looking for a good Thai singer for a project. That we found indeed. The music was worth staying to listen to and even more fun to watch since the singer really had a good voice, but she was singing in English and both us native speakers had no idea what she... More

Visited on 19th Sept 2015 with my wife. Arrived about 7:30, first band played at about 8:30, but it was not until 10 when the decent music started, and then it was very good. They had a jazz combo with guitar, bass, drums, keys and trumpet, plus singers. Halfway through set the very young (and good) guitarist gave up his... More

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighborhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
