On most of my trips to Bangkok a meal at La Scala is a tradition. The food is as good as ever, but the prices, which have always been high, are now bordering on outlandish. It's occasion dining, but you'll really pay, and there are better options.

My friends and I were looking for a high end Italian on our last night, and the Sukhothai was right down the street from our hotel (So Sofitel), so we gave it a try. The atmosphere is great, with a nice, relaxed high end vibe and the kitchen in the middle of the restaurant. Our table was outside, overlooking the... More

You know exactly what you are getting here - good Italian fayre with a subtle Thai twist. The service was very attentive but not overbearing and the atmosphere was vibrant. We loved the open kitchen so you can see the chefs at work right in the centre of the restaurant. Great wine and cocktail list to compliment the dishes.

We always enjoy to have a meal there. We just had dinner there tonight. Everything is good, my son didn't like the Rucola, I guess it's Thai grown rucola, the taste is much stronger than the one we find in Europe. But their pizzas are good, the pasta are good. I've been eating there almost every time I come to... More

Just fantastic. Our night got a golden edge from the perfect service from Am, the highlight of our week in Bangkok. Thank you Am for such a brilliant service and kindness. The pizza you recommended us was the best we had, and we did not sit with empty wineglasses for all the evening.

Came here for my last meal in bkk with big expectations. Was thoroughly disappointed. Waited 45 minutes for a 30 dollar pizza. Which i dont mind. Have waited much longer at di fara's in brooklyn. But unfortunaltely scala doesnt live up to its name. Being a pizza fanatic i have eaten at the best all over the world. And no,... More

what a great surprice! We came for dinner with friends, expecting good food but it turned out being excellent. New italian Chef David cook fantastic European food with some Thai influences. Restaurant setting is very nice, open kitchen, so you can see the team working. Dress code, no shorts or slippers, more smart casual. The restaurant staff well trained. The... More

The food is exceptional. The salad bar is like a buffet, and the chiefs try to present the different.

I'm a bit skeptical if I visit a non Thai restaurant in Bangkok but as this hotel is also part of the Sukhothai and I was late one evening coming back from the office, I tried it. It was very good, the chef is Italian so that selected to the quality of the food. I can elaborate a lot but... More

Good to see how the chef and his team cook and works. Pasta with Lobster is really good and pizza is amazing, it made me feel like i am in Italy not Thai. Please save room for dessert as i cant but i saw from the table next to me, it look tasty. Service team, of cause standard 5 star... More

Staying in Sathorn

Neighborhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
