The yummyest seafood chowder I have ever had. The ambience and chilled pint of Sherpa would do a magic sitting inside the vintage courtyard would definitely be a magical experience I would say.
I stayed at Babar Mahal Vlllas next door for a month and popped over for lunch. The Tom Khai Kai soup sounded great on a rainy afternoon and I ordered it, an espresso, and some paneer fingers. And then waited and waited and waited...I actually...went to Chez Carline and bought a muffin I got so hungry, then I bought a rug at the Rajastanian place, and then wondered if the statue in the courtyard was Vishnu or Buddha for another ten minutes. Got back and my soup was there and terrible. It had no actual Thai ingredients, but was an oily soup with a couple bits of chicken and chiles. The paneer fingers came ten minutes later with mayo sauce. Nepal has dozens of great sauces so mayo is a little sad. I was so tired I made the mistake of ordering another espresso and asked for my check...four times..as one staff member made the espresso the other stood there not understanding he could actually bring the check while the espresso was being made. Total time: 2 & 1/2 hours and a heft check for a meal I wouldn't feed a dog. I emailed the management three times before receiving a generic sorry email. I know the owners have spent a small fortune to launch this space, but this level of food and service is something I would get at a fast food place on a really bad day. Please show everyone that Nepal isn't a third rate place to eat and socialize, but one of the best in the world.More
I had booked a table for two may be around two weeks prior to my visit. I also recieved a confirmation of my booking. However, I was informed that they had some event and had to cancel my reservation and I was informed about it...an hour prior to my booked time !! This was plain careless, unprofessional and greedy management who dont value their customers. Becareful guys!!!More
I had a visit with my brother and friend. The ambience here is just a wow! It is the place where you can have conversations sitting in cozy sofa under the holy Rudraksha Tree and light music in the background. We had fresh fruit juice,...mushroom chilly and Nepali veg and chicken dinner. Everything was fine except mushroom chilly, which was deep fried, that made it extra crunchy but it was expected to be soft and juicy with shallow frying. However, I was quite impressed with their hospitality and service.More
Mul Chowk is located in Babar Mahal Revisited and the location is another reason to have dinner there. The whole facility is beautiful and there are a number of shops as well as different restaurants and bars. You can sit inside in a more formal...setting or sit outside and enjoy the open air. This was our second visit. We had been there in 2015 during our last visit to Nepal. The service was excellent and very attentive. There were five of us and we each had something different. I had the veggie and oyster stir fry with rice. It was excellent. We also split a garden salad and it was excellent. My husband had fish with pesto sauce. The flavor was good but the fish was not hot. Our friend had spinach crepes. The flavor was good but there were not hot. Our guide had Dalbat and he enjoyed it. The atmosphere and service were great but we were disappointed that the food was not hot. I would expect it to be perfect for the price being charged.More
The food really sucks here. I don't know why. Prawns were deep fried but was labeled "grilled", Chicken was not fresh at all and was very tough and chewy. Price is way too high for what you get. The only thing I like here is...the ambience that the old Rana durbar gives.More

I visited this restaurant few days back with my brother. He ordered Lamb chops and i ordered Spinach and Mushroom stuffed Chicken. Chicken dish was average. Not very flavourful but i was just happy that the chicken was not uncooked :D Yes! imagine the horror!...My brother was pretty happy with his lamb chops. It was tender and well done. The outdoor seating is beautiful since the restaurant is located inside Babar Mahal but besides that it doesnt have any substance. Can be skipped.More
We went for a business dinner, a group of around 12 people. Location is quiet but exotic. The restaurant is located in a heritage building with nice seating arrangement. Outside seating gives a romantic feeling. Service is quick and accurate. Food is very tasty. Presentation...is nice. A place to visit for nice food, especially the dinner.More
