First impressions always last, so I was glad to have a good first experience of Nepali cuisine on my first night in Nepal. My trekking agency Himalayan Planet Adventures took me here for a welcome dinner before my flight out for the Everest Base Camp trek the next day. I liked the ambiance of the place--very traditional with some cultural... More

Don't expect anything fancy. Most of the seating in the main area is on cushions on the floor. Some traditional Nepali dance and music, which was fun and interesting. Food was excellent. We went for the set menu, and everything was top quality. Of special note was the wild boar. Location is good and well worth a visit to say... More

There weren't too many locals in Nepali Chulo the night we went there. Most of the diners were western tour groups who enjoyed the multi-course meal, with traditional Nepali entertainment. This is a good introduction to Nepali cuisine but there are better (and cheaper) places to sample the local fare.

It was a very nice place. They have this cultural programs and have beautiful decor. But the food is just average. Nowhere near regular Thakali Restaurant foods.

Over priced and can defintely get better nepalese food for cheaper in Thamel. Service was poor, perhaps because waiters were being treated poorly by the maitre d. This restaurant only survives because big hotels send their guests there. Atmosphere okay and restaurant clean. Needs a wine list.
