This is probably Dakar’s nr 1 restaurant and rightfully so. Have been there several times and the food is top notch + the single portions are big enough to feed 2. Price wise it is at the high end, but still affordable for a European...wallet. Recommend sitting on the child proof terrace.More

Went for a quick lunch, it was amazing! Staff is very friendly, food was amazing, and very quick, as per my request as I had not time. Great location with the terrasse above the water! I'll definitely go again!

We ordered the salade du lagon, supposedly with plenty of fruits, salad, shrimps, and a tasty vinaigrette. We got a coupe of slices of papaya, ananas, a small piece of avocado and 3 or 4 mini shrimps, lettuce which lacked croustillant, all of this covered...by a thick layer of basic vinaigrette (cheap oil - not olive oil), and we paid 9000 for this. Size was ridiculous, quality terrible. A big disappointment!More

This is another place that I have always visited whenever I come to Dakar. The service and food has always been one of the best in Senegal. I know the staff and they also know me by the name due to my frequent visits. Prices...are not that cheap but the view is top. The outside deck is also worth going to Lagoon 1 for lunch. It’s really a beautiful place.More

Arriving in the dark it was a delightful surprise to walk down to the entrance of the restaurant. The menu is creative and fresh local ingredients with. French flair. Prices were very affordable and they have a lovely wine list. Service was impeccable.

Lagon 1 is family business, established since the early fifties by the late Michel Calendini whose son, Cyril Calendini, now manages the restaurant. The restaurant has now acquired an iconique status among among Dakar’s ever growing many eating places. The food is of high quality...and varied; predominantly french, with borrowing from the French West Indies, Martinique and Guadeloupe, and, of course, tastes of the national dishes of Senegal. Diners will have the opportunity to sample the famous Senegal’s Thiebou Dieune, red rice with fish and delicious organically-grown carrots, aubergines, among other typically Senegalese vegetables (just don’t say it’s like rissotto, as they might ‘humorously’ offended, as there is no comparison-in their view!). Do try the Maffe, lamb/chicken with peanut butter and tomato sauce, or the Yassa from southern Casamance, southern Senegal, rice/chips with chicken/fish,marinated in lime and onion. Good food in a boat-inspired ambience, adorned with carefully chosen, thematic pieces to match. To top it with a friendly and dedicated staff, managed by Cyril Calendini.More

Went for a last minuter dinner before a late flight. Excellent fish, useful guidance and good ep vegetarian options. The owner did his best to find a table close to the sea, even without a booking. Good wine by the glass.

They were out of fish. ?! The restaurant only had 5 other customers and it was 7:30pm. I ordered the Lagon salad and was underwhelmed. A few frozen shrimp boiled on top of lettuce with some fruit. The white wine I ordered was unremarkable. After...all the hype, and for the price, I expected more. On the positive, the ambiance is nice and the staff was very friendly. Maybe I just ordered wrong. I’d go back to try this place again, but it’s not a “can’t miss” destination. Food was better at La Playa with similar views and service.More

A spot of the 60's a taste of luxury and a scene straight out from Jules Verne meets Robert Louis Stephenson. One of the very few places that retain the glory of the past, and I do not mean the list of brass plaques bearing...the names of former guests where you can verify your knowledge of history from the UN, Europe and the world but a place with a cuisine both simple and sophisticated that loves you out of an country of arbitrary standards straight into how things should be. Go there with friends or family and enjoy the view, the journey, and the dream!More
