Now where do I start ? Was staying at the Pullman Teranga and asked for the concierge to guide me to a nearby restaurant. The previous night they recommended the Lagon 1 (reviewed separately) which we enjoyed and had instilled faith on your recommendation. They recommended this garden restaurant in the French Restaurant, which didn't sound that exciting. No live... More

It's kind of a cool, open air place set in a garden in the middle of the block within the French Institute, although you go through security (wanding) to get in. The service was a little slapdash, possibly because we asked a lot of questions about what we could order. The menu was a good selection of Senegalese and contemporary,... More

I had a lovely shrimp salad and my dining partner raved about his pork. This restaurant in the French Cultural Center was a wonderful respite just steps away from the hustle of Dakar center. We heard it got very busy, so we arrived early (6:30 PM) on a Friday and were shown right to a table. The server was attentive... More

Reviewing this place is complicated, but not because the French Cultural Center is a great place to go for its many wonderful events. The restaurant is inconsistent. When they have the menu items, they're tasty, but they're often out so my friends and I have taken to being prepared to be happy with ordering our 2nd or 3rd options. The... More

Surrounded by the hustle, bustle and hassle of downtown Dakar, the Bideew restaurant in the ‘Institut Français’ offers a cool haven of peace with its shaded terrace and verdant garden and enormous kapok tree. A menu is offered for lunch each weekday. Or, try the Bideew salad of shrimps marinaded in lime juice and ginger, or the Beef forestière salad,... More

No one could imagine there is such a quiet place in the city center of the noisy Dakar. I had lunch there today and there are fans and trees everywhere. It is situated in the middle of the French Institute. It looks like a paradise island without the beach. The food is good for what it's worth. Prices are regular... More

Other than a waiter on rolleblades, this is more of a notable hangout amongst expats than a great stop for food.

When you are in a hurry and you want to have nice meal you must visit Bideew, located in down town Dakar, it offers you great food, you have to try the mashed sweet potato, affiliated to French cultural center, most of the time there is an event there, a group singing or a film showing... i recommend this restaurant...

A very cosy place in downtown Dakar. Nice mix of French influence and local traditions. Very clean and friendly service.

After the hustle and bustle of town, the concrete, the dust…. Le Bideew is a little oasis in the centre of Dakar with its semi-outdoor seating near the the garden. It's colourful mosaic decor comes to life with the lighting at night, but this is a good place to go at anytime of the day because they offer full meals... More
