A beautiful antiques decoration - actually a few collections mostly gathered in Madagascar are set as a very unique decoration. The menu is rich and the food quality is high. Service was excellent. I shall get back there each time I shall arrive to Antanarivo

I loved this restaurant. The Serice, Food and Decor were delightful and it was by far the nicest dining experience of our trip. We went for my 30th birthday and had a lovely 3 course dinner. By comparison we had an average meal at home in Dublin 3 weeks later with just a main course each which cost twice the... More

Another restaurant in a wonderful old building packed with antiques. The standards which the management has set itself are very high and they work hard to maintain them. This is place for a special meal andwe have never been diappointed. The only very minor criticism I would make is the presentation of the dishes is over-pretentious but as the beutifully... More

Every course was well executed! Save some room for dessert! Ask the waiter about the special chocolate desserts if you like chocolate. Wonderful atmosphere. Recommend you make a reservation ahead of time. We got there pretty early and enjoyed the quiet ambience before the place got filled up.

Just a short walk down a very dark alley between the President's Palace and the Hotel Colbert is La Varangue. The first thing you notice is the collections--brass blowtorches, old telephones, cameras, etc. The menu is very French but the prices are reasonable. We had lunch outside on the terrace and dinner inside, both very good. Ask about the special... More

Fabulous and interesting food - (seared duck breast and black rice; seafood risotto with black rice and lots of shellfish) In the evenings, a musician plays quietly in the background. The wine list is interesting and the service unobtrusive. Worth a special trip.

We had heard such fabulous reviews about the restaurant from Lonely Planet and online forums that we dragged our tired selves to La Varangue for the final meal in Madagascar before flying back home. We made sure we made a table reservation since Saturdays are a fairly busy affair. We arrived 1 hour early at the venue since we wanted... More

Dined here last Monday and were lucky to get a table (book early). The whole experience was perfect... ambience, service, wine but most notably the food. Truely first class French cuisine that went straight into my top 5 dinners of all time! In London or Paris I would have expected to pay £300 for two with wine (and it would... More
