I have been to Addis twice and have been to Yod Abyssinia four times. The food has always been good, but the overall experience has been hit and miss. Twice we had a fantastic time -- great music and dancers with good energy and lively atmosphere. But twice it fell very flat -- long breaks between most of the performances,... More

It is said what is meant to be will be. Cannot be more true than our city tour to Addis. It started out not so well but ended with dinner at this restaurant. At that time we had no idea what it was all about. We went early around 6pm local time and the restaurant was mostly empty. I ordered... More

So cool , so nice , so much fun ! Great music, dancing, and drinks !! The show was amazing, the dancers were friendly and included the audience into the show. Would go back over and over, easy location to fine on Bole.

I found Yod Abyssinia a pleasant experience for tourists and business travelers. There is a wide variety of food items which tantalize your taste buds. The traditional dances performed by the resident ensemble are for the active. The choreography is very tempting but not so easy to follow as it shakes every part of your body. It is indeed exceptionally... More

For our last premarital anniversary, the fiancé and I decided to skip 2000 Habesha and go to Yod Abyssinia instead for a different experience. Our dinner fell on my wife’s birthday weekend, I was glad we went there and they surprised us with a birthday song in the middle of our dinner. First, this was a four-hour, nine-course meal with... First the downside: I think the food was mediocre, way too chewy... but I must admit that I'm no fan to the Ethiopian cuisine. But the music and the dance!! I think it was fantastic! Tourist focussed? Probably true. But I appreciate the idea that all kind of different dances from many tribes were shown, in constantly changing costumes. But... More

When traveling to Addis, we had the benefit of a local friend to guide us. She recommended Yod Abyssinia, but we also tried another "cultural restaurant" that was not as good. So, please do go to Yod...it's fun, with excellent dancers, high-quality furnishings and decor, and VERY good food (we did the buffet AND ordered off the menu. Yes, I... More
