The food, extra-attentiveness of the waiters, the wine, the live band and probably the fact that it was fully booked. You’d have to wait for a table if you’re a regular who showed up without a reservation. In my opinion, it’s great for groups and...people okay with having conversation around them. Not sure it works for a romantic night out or anything quiet. But the food :) You should experience it for the food. Negatives include your waiter trying to get you to give him more money than you tipped.More

Great atmosphere, music, both tourists and locals with awesome food and images of all the most amazing Cape Verdean musicians and singers. If you don’t do anything else in Praia, this is not to miss. Make reservations in advance as it is full every night!

Well...the dinner and live musical evening was part of our Friday night tour package and it was basically a tourist trap so I should not have had very high expectations. The service, food and drinks were average. I did not care for the tourist trap...atmosphere nor the environment of turning over the tables as quickly as possible. I was MOST disappointed at the evening’s entertainment: a rotation of three male vocalists who did Morna a disservice. Cesaria Evora put Morna on the global map and they were not equipped to do justice to such a beautiful genre. They were much better instrumentalists and should have stayed in that role because their singing was uninspiring, dull and well boring which almost put me to sleep during their sets. Yes, I’m particular about music and have enjoyed a lifelong passion for it, so sorry I just don’t believe they should have been singing. Would I return: ABSOLUTELY NOT.More

The place has a great atmosphere and you can easily spend a fun evening there with good live music and delicious food. However for a place that considers itself one of the best for live music, the quality of the sound was a pity. The...band was very good, but the sound too high pitched and therefore the music not really enjoyable..a pity.More

the house was full, luckily we reserved a very good table during the afternoon. I would not go there because of the food, but certainly not stay away because of the food. The drinks were great (caipirinha with national grog is gorgeous) and the staff...was very lovely and they welcomed us warmly. As far as I heard Thursday is the best day and Wednesday is very good... we will returnMore

The food was OK but not cheap or especially interesting. There was music on the evening we visited but nothing like the type of Cape Verde music we were hoping for. A group of women in white dresses thumping on leather drums (?) ...

A bit of a Praia classic - super venue for live music and an excellent atmosphere, but only average food. Sautéed prawns and some cheese, olives and tuna pâté shared for the starter, three kinds of grilled fish with vegetables for main, a pudim (caramel...flan) for dessert and a bottle of Fogo white wine (Moscatel grape). Service was excellent and efficient, but the food only so-so: the sautéed prawns were drowned in sauce, the grilled fish was overcooked and dry. However the main reason to come here is the atmosphere and the live music, both of which are excellent (musicians start at 9pm and continue for a couple of hours at least). So think of this as an evening of live music with food, rather than a gourmet dining experience per se. Plenty of Cape Verdeans when I visited, so I wouldn’t call this a ‘tourist trap’ and the service was attentive. €75 for 2 people (3 courses plus a bottle of wine) which fine. Reservations are essential however.More

Tourists trap. The staff are rude, food is barely average, prices are huge! From the moment we sat down, the waiter was super pushy at trying to up-sell the more expensive drinks / dishes. Eventually we ordered drinks, one starter to share and mains. Waiter...brought drinks quite quickly and in like 20 minutes the mains followed - although the starter never arrived. We didn’t make a big deal of the starter missing and were happy to receive our mains (as we were very hungry). Yet, when my girlfriend tried her “goat in the oven” dish, it was completely cold (which suggests that the dish was either pre-made or not eaten by somebody and served to us since how can you cook such dish and get it completely cold all in 20 minutes???). When we told about this to the waiter, he did not say a single word, took the dish and dropped it in the kitchen. 5 minutes later, the waiter brought the same dish, this time warm - obviously heated in the microwave. In the meantime while my girlfriend was waiting for the dish to be brought back to her, another waitress asked if everything is ok and my girlfriend explained that she is waiting for her main to be brought back to her and that we never received our starter. The waitress explained that they did not have tuna pate that night and wasn’t sure why our waiter did not inform us about that. After eating our mains (which actually were worst quality dishes we had in whole Cape Verde), we decided to try deserts in hope to fix the night. We made it very clear to the waiter that we wanted our deserts to arrive at the same time as coffee. Yet, deserts came, coffee never did. However, this time the waiter at least apologised for not bringing coffee and then we ordered another desert, just so we could have something with our coffee. To be fair, deserts were nice, but that’s about it. The worst part - we paid 5,000 CVE which was our most expensive dinner and it was far from being worth the money. We would not recommend this restaurant and would even describe it as tourists’ trap as everyone around us were actually tourists and not many people seemed to enjoy their meals.More

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner with live music. We made a reservation at 20.30 h so we could enjoy the music the most. The restaurant had glutenfree options for me to eat.
