A pleasant restaurant with good traditional food, and nice surroundings. Smoke-free too, as opposed to most other places we visited. Nice wine-list, though only very few were actually available. The quality was good, though.

Close to where I was staying, a Hotel Tiba (excellent)... It is better in the inside tan it looks from out side. Good waiter, good prices...approx 20 dinars...they have wine and beer, again at fair prices. If you are staying near the Medina?...give it a try

As my title suggest the 1st thing we will discover is the open refrigerator showing available raw fish for you to choose from. But once you select you might not believe that how could that smelly fish can be served in this testy treat and as a bonus the ever smiling stuffs.

Don't be fooled by its exterior appearance! This was opposite our hotel (Tiba) and we never thought of going in because of how it looked from outside. However, I spotted it on our Lonely Planet guide and thought we should give it a go. The inside was a pleasant surprise. The tables were all dressed in white and set up... More

We ate here early evening when it was very quiet - all the Tunisian classics on the menu, fine in all regards but lacking any wow factor. Good wine - Gris de Tunisie and pleasant staff. Reasonably priced, so not a bad choice by any means

There are a lot of fast food "restaurants" next to Tunis' main axe... But this restaurant deserves to be mentioned! I love the interior, the decor... And above all the food and drinks! For 25 dinar I had great food, two nice fish and some starters... Well, I feel like in times long long ago!!! Hopefully this restaurant will last... More

On a side street off of Tunis' main boulevard, L'Orient looks pretty seedy, especially at night, but inside the 1956 decor is delightfully dated, the service friendly and attentive and the food plentiful and inexpensive. A big seafood lunch for two with wine was 69 TD. As the European shores of the Med are losing their fish stocks to over-fishing,... More

Came for lunch. Obviously highly rated by the locals. Excellent food, attentive no-nonsence service, and reasonable value.

The decor is very dated -- chairs covered in perma-plastic -- and the staff may appear a bit rude by western standards -- our waiter poured a taste of the wine and then put the bottle down and walked off. But the fish couscous was delicious -- one of us got a sea-bass, the other a halibut steak -- and... More

The food in L'Orient is good and reliable. It is a restaurant that has stood the test of time and provides a combination of Franco-Tunisienne cuisine along with friendly service. The decor is somewhat dated but if you like food then don't worry about the decoration. It is charming in a 1950s sort of way. Location is good in the... More
