Amazing Ambiance- Food not so Amazing! Great local music and ambiance. Food is not so great... Nevertheless worth a visit...

I found this to be a beautiful setting and also enjoyed the food. My first meal at this restaurant was for lunch. I had been walking in the Medina with friends and we started looking for a place to eat. The door with the knockers...to enter was quite Interesting. Two of us ordered fish and the other two ordered lamb. The fish was very good, but the the lamb eaters raved about it. They described it as the best ever. We returned to this restaurant the following evening with a group of 16. The service and meal was very good, but didn’t quite measure up to lunch that four of us had the previous day. I highly recommend this restaurant.More

The atmosphere is fine. The waiters were helpful, except for one that really seemed to hate his job. The food was not bad, but nothing great about it either. It certainly is overpriced.

Itwas horrible hôtel when we booked our holiday too stresfull staff never liste to you we did not det what we paid for staff work for tips if you tip them u get what you ask for even bottle of water never be. Ack to...this hôtel not recomende itMore

no doubt the restaurant is absolutely magnificent and a true experience. There aren't many high end options in Tunis Medina so if you're looking for a heightened experience, you will definitely be choosing this spot. my first night - the food was amazing and the...service beyond!! everything was perfect and the staff were so nice to me as a solo traveler: chatting with me but not intrusive, and offering to show me around the different dining rooms and take my photos. there were charming and friendly musicians playing traditional music with antique instruments, and happy to pose for photos Second night - I was seated upstairs in the balcony. service was so bad I actually went to walk out and one of the head staff asked me what the problem was and I told them I'd been there a half hour and was still waiting for my glass of water and to forget my order. They apologized profusely and started taking very good care of me, but this evening the food was actually mediocre I would still recommend because it is such a beautiful place and perhaps they were having an off night the second time I went. By local standards the restaurant is very expensive but by International standards its quite reasonable.More

We were looking forward to eating here because it was getting really good reviews, but it wasn't a pleasant experience for us. Arrived on time for our 7.30 booking and were left sitting in a waiting area until 7.55. Not the best start. I found...the menu a little difficult to decipher as it was in french and seemed to have the odd Turkish word too, so google translate failed to enlighten. That was ok for me and I went for the conservative option of fillet of steak which I recognised. This seemed to upset the waiter who asked why I wasn't going with a Tunisian dish with an air of contempt in his voice. When the meal came, the potatoes accompanying were stone cold. Mentioned this to the waiter and he dismissed my concerns, perhaps they were supposed to be cold??...if so, it doesn't work...they weren't good. Service in general wasn't friendly and really we were looking forward to getting out of there and asked for the bill soon after finishing. After requesting the bill 3 times, we said we'd just go down and pay at cashier. In the final act of the night, they had no paper in the credit card machine and obviously it couldn't print receipt. The payment had gone through as I pointed from a bank text on my phone. Ignoring this they put through payment again. At this point I began to loose my temper and showed them 2 text messages with 2 payments....after 10 minutes argument they eventually refunded second payment in cash. Lucky I had text notification from bank or I wouldn't have known. Pity about our experience, reading the reviews here everyone else is raving about it.More

This was, I think, the best restaurant we ate at in Tunisia. Unfortunately we were unable to get a table for a repeat visit. We ate with a group of friends. The service was good and relatively unobtrusive. The food was out of this world....Very Tunisian.More

It is good choose in Tunis. The restraurant is traditional & authantic. You feel that you are in tunisia. The foods are delicious. You should also drink a local wine and enjoy the atmosphere.

Some of the other reviews confuse me a bit because they mention another restaurant across the road with the same name. However we went to the correct restaurant as in the photos here - a big yellow door with a knocker that we had to...bang on to be let in :-) We didn't have a reservation but it was midweek in January and we arrived around 19:30 so had to sit (very comfortably) in the entrance hall until they opened the restaurant proper at 20:00. Having said all that, the food and the service were both very impressive. It is not cheap (although certainly not terribly expensive by western standards) - we had three courses plus wine and water and it came to about 90 euros for the two of us. The interior of the restaurant is brilliant - it was obviously at some stage a big house for someone very rich and the decoration is amazing. For the main course I ordered a steak and ended up getting two steaks! I think I know why in that I ordered it rare and one of the two steaks was rare and was perfect, but the other was well done. I can only assume that they realised their mistake and so rather than waste the well-done steak they gave it to me as well, which I was rather impressed about. This restaurant really is well worth visiting :-)More
