In 2014, Kamal Laftimi and Sebastian de Gzell took over an old carpet store off the famed Rahba Lakdima spice square (places des épices) and, alongside interior designer Romain Meniere, transformed it into “Nomad”. With a strong emphasis on fresh local produce and ample variety for vegetarians, pescetarians, and carnivores alike, the lively restaurant serves simple “Modern Moroccan” cuisine: revisions of traditional local cuisine and international dishes with a Moroccan twist. Spread over 4 floors, with intimate dining rooms and two levels of terraces that offer fantastic views of the surrounding Medina and Atlas mountain range (when visible between November and May), Nomad is perfect for both lunch and dinner, or to simply repose from the hustle and bustle of the souks with a much-needed drink.

After walking through the medina all day we went up to dinner before sunset (with prior reservation, of course) and... HORROR... all the couples had just showered and gotten ready, and we...
Well, we enjoyed it anyway. Although the food is Moroccan, they give it a special touch and a different presentation, all very delicious but also a little more expensive.
The service was at all times very attentive and friendly; The dishes do not arrive very quickly, but they have to be made at the moment (zero pre-cooked) and you also have to relax, we are on vacation!!!
The night after our dinner the fateful earthquake occurred, and as we followed this establishment on Instagram we were able to see that they did not remain with their arms crossed, they have shown solidarity everywhere, donating food, facilitating donations, promoting humanitarian organizations, ...
This shows that it is not just a nice place to take photos, but that those who run it also have a very community feeling, generous and eager to move forward.

Really nice place in Marrakech. It is accessed from an alley in the Souk, just north of the Great Square (Jemaa El fna). The tables are positioned on two levels of the terrace, a suggestive location, especially at sunset.
Courteous and quick service.
Contemporary Moroccan cuisine, with variations on the theme that do not disturb. The tagines are very good, better with chicken than veal, served in a "contemporary" version. The desserts are also very good.
Jazz music in the background.
High prices for Marrakech. Let's say you have to budget at least 25 euros per person.
Still recommended. Attention: it is advisable to book.

We had a very disappointing experience at Nomad. First of all my drink (a Moroccon virgin Mary) took almost half an hour to be brought to the table. We ordered 'the seasonal mezzes' as starter which turned out to be only hummus - which was very average in taste. I was expecting a selection of small dishes, if I had known that it would be only hummus I would not have ordered it. My table partner is vegetarian but we could only find 2 vegetarian main dishes on the menu. We ordered the plate of 'seasonal vegetables' which turned out to be a plate with only 3 ingredients: A sliced avocado, some sort of baba ganush and a few pieces of lettuce drowned in vinegar. Very underwhelming. My chicken curry was OK although the chicken pieces were not very tender. I then ordered the rice pudding for dessert which was one of the most tasteless desserts I've ever had. I stopped eating it after 2 spoons. The waiter who cleaned the table didn't ask anything when he saw that I had hardly touched my dessert and when I told him it had no taste he just shrug his shoulders. The only positive I can say it that the other waitress and the manager did make an attempt to address the situation and gave us another vegetarian dish - which I appreciate. Also the view on the roof terrace is beautiful. But all in all this is one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time - and very pricy for Marrakesh standards.

Good service however food very disappointing. Shared a starter of hummus and bread which was ok but mains were poor. Uncooked veg menu said crispy! Well over cooked pieces of chewy chicken which took a long time to be served. Well over priced. Nice setting but would not recommend.

First of all, as soon as we entered, my partner and I went with a water from outside and they asked us to leave it at the entrance. The prices were expensive compared to the other restaurants in the square. They charged us 4 euros for a large water. We ordered a hamburger for 13 euros each and they charged us a 9% tip included in the bill

Unfortunately our visit was very disappointing, despite the high expectations due to the good reviews. The food was disappointing: the presentation left something to be desired, the bread was dry and the starter tasteless and lukewarm. Too bad because we were looking forward to a nice meal.
Staff were friendly and professional they offered us to choose something else but the quality of the food was not good so we did not dare to order anything else in the end we only had to pay half. That is neat of Nomad they will have to improve the quality otherwise they will go down with their success.

We booked a table for 10pm for our last night in Marrakech since it was the only available time, the restaurant is beautiful and the food was amazing (especially the monkfish which was probably the best dish we had during the holiday), sadly the waiters obviously wanted to close and were hanging around our table so we felt rushed although there were still other people in the restaurant.. So we decided to leave after 45 minutes since we felt like they were waiting us to finish..
Highly recommend the Nomad restaurant but book in advance to get an earlier table!

Do not believe the hype, we have been to Marrakech many times and this was the worst meal we have eaten here. The zucchini starter came out within five minutes and was like warm and my lamb chops were uninspired and Luke warm. The aubergine was hotter than the sun and had clearly been heated in the microwave. We were hoping for a lovely roof top terrace but in reality sat squished in with a view that looked like a building site. There are so many lovely places to eat in Marrakech, try Pepe Nero, which has been consistently great year after year.

I have been many years ago and had only good things to say. However coming back I found that the prices have been inflated to absurdity. If you want to eat sardine meatballs at Nomad, dont bother. You can go to Essaouira, eat real thing at the fish market and come back, you will probably still be able to buy a meat kebab on the way back FOR THE SAME PRICE as eating at nomad. What actually made me left before even ordering was reading a small print that they add 9% service charge. On top of that extertion? It’s a joke.

Nice location in a popular area of the medina. Rooftop was great and not too crowded, music was cool and a good volume (ie not deafening).
Menu was pretty limited choice-wise but ok. No alcohol is served but you can order non-alcoholic beer and they have a variety of juices available - although I didn't try any so can't comment on whether they are nice or not.
We both ordered the burger which was good, but the fries came out cold. We asked if they could be reheated and they decided to bring us a fresh bowl instead - this too arrived cold so we just left it.

We wanted to take refuge in the chicest rooftop in Marrakech, but other than the location this restaurant has nothing special to offer compared to other restaurants.
The prices are much above average due to the atmosphere but the dishes are not worth the trip. Very touristy.

Okay so we were super excited for this one and were a little disappointed but it wasn't out of them not trying which makes it better.
We booked it a little too late for sundown which was our fault, but once the sun goes down its a little too dark to even see your food. The tables are close together we were in a corner so had a little more space but you couldn't have any proper conversations due to how many tables had been fit in the space
Whilst service was good when they had come over to the table, it took a little too long for them to come considering there were alot of staff standing around.
Not speaking french often leads to a lesser service despite them being able to speak english.
Our starter was nice but needed more seasoning and was a bit flat. The mains of chicken and beef were labelled and 'priced' as deconstructed tagines but they were just tagines in a bowl so as a result became over priced. The chicken needed more seasoning and the beef was too fatty.
In their defence, once we told them about the beef, they offered a new one, we declined as at this point the other food was finished and then they unexpectedly removed the beef from the bill.
This was unexpected but appreciated as i don't feel it's the norm in this tourist restaurant and we would of been disappointed fronting a £100+ bill for dinner that didn't include alcohol expenses
They don't serve alcohol but this was our error, we had assumed venues like this did but like I said, our error especially considering its location, we should have checked.
it could be amazing here with tweaks to the final taste of the food and more lightly for after dark, perhaps a few less tables for the dinner setting.
