As my first visit to Iowa, I have little to compare this cafe to others in Iowa, or even Ames, but the entire dining experience was spectacular. The atmosphere was unique, the service was good and the food was exquisite. From the design of the building to the decorations throughout, everything seemed well kept and comfortable. We arrived sometime between... More

The Café is our favorite for many reasons and is really the only place we consider when dining out. The seasonal, local menu is always offering something new to try. Always prepared with local and fresh ingredients. The breakfast is always fabulous, amazing dessert selection that will catch your eye the minute you walk in. Lunch is great if you... More

Whether you order a sandwich to go, stay for a bite to eat, or grab a drink and dessert and sit outside, The Cafe' has what you want 100% of the time! I love their Paloma's - a nice cool down adult drink!

Took my wife and young child here for dinner after a recommendation from some work friends. They had a good selection of salads, burgers and dinner entrees along with a wide variety of desserts and drinks. This would be a great place to take a date

This is a neat little restaurant. It has a quick order section and also a sit down area where you can order off of a menu. The items on the menu are not the typical café-bacon-and-eggs. My son got eggs with portabella mushrooms, I got toast and jelly (homemade bread and preserves). Excellent for a change of pace.

Great food, great prices. The menu changes often and never disappoints. You can also stop in to the coffee bar for coffee, sandwiches, salads, and dessert to go if you don't have an hour for a sit-down dinner.

I discovered The Café while studying at Iowa State University and make it a point to go back every time I visit Ames! The menu changes frequently so you will have something new almost every time and yet I have never had a bad meal. They have great locally grown food and friendly service. Prepare to wait for a table... More

The Somerset Salad was one of the best I've ever had. The presentation was very elegant with sections of salmon, arugula, halved cherry tomatoes, couscous, pumpkin seeds, and grilled corn. It was soooooo tasty and fresh and served with a chunk of crusty bread. I love the restaurant's ambiance and can see why it was packed at lunch. We also... More

Our first visit to Ames and this restaurant. Excellent service, great cocktail selection including some good craft beer choices. We had the shrimp ceviche appetizer that was an interesting mix of tastes and absolutely delicious. We both had specials, my husband had the trout and I the sirloin. Both had excellent flavors, mine came with the best cream corn I've... More

We love the food, service and atmosphere here! We are locals who eat here weekly for Sunday breakfast before church!😂 Different menu than most! For fresh and eclectic meals we highly recommend The Cafe in N. Ames!
