Great place to eat/drink/meet friends. No reservations which is a bummer and they will not seat you till your entire party has arrived. The menu changes every 3-4 months so don't fall in love with a particular item, just enjoy them all as they come. Love the bakery and desserts, a classy place.

Put The Cafe at the top of your Must Do for Ames! An oh, so creative menu, great utilization of space within the building filled with sharp staff and fabulous food. Leave room for Lemon Berry Cake and Chocolate Insanity!

Easily the best and most cosmopolitan type dining in all of Ames. The menu regularly rotates entrees, but also regularly has some staples such as their hamburger or hanger steak. Food is always served with attention to presentation on the plate and by professional servers. Always have great service there - ALWAYS! The desserts are heavenly and can be viewed... More

We arrived about 11 for Sunday brunch. Had about a 30 minute wait. They were right on with the time estimate. We were seated outside on the patio. Very pleasant. Our server was excellent, just the right amount of attentiveness. We had the zucchini pancakes and the shrimp and grits. Both were very tasty and well prepared. The fresh squeezed... More

We ate here twice in two days - that good. Great local beer list and very good food. Ate outside on the patio second time - it is nicely sheltered, so pleasant on a summer day.

From the 5 star reviews we were hoping for a bit more. The lunch/brunch menu is a little sparse. The BLT and Corn Soup combo was good, but the sandwich was thin and was over toasted (too dark). The Corn soup was pureed with no kernels remaining. The Shrimp and Grits is a hot mess dish. 5 different "Southern" flavors... More

We heard so many good things, but were disappointed. We arrived before our other party and were told to come back to the desk when our complete party arrived. This was a first for us, all other restaurants will seat you. If you order water it comes in a tall bottle carafe and you don't get ice. Ames is noted... More

Such an adorable little spot! The baristas were awesome, and the food/coffee was amazing! The world needs more coffees shops like this.

I have never been disappointed here. Today's soup - chicken tortilla - was excellent. As usual, the staff was friendly and service was great. One of Ames best restaurants!
