Returned to Stomping Grounds and enjoyed our breakfast. Menu is somewhat limited but everything tasted great. Excellent coffee. Nice patio along with indoor dining. Very busy this morning and kitchen was slow. A good place to chill.

Hip Coffee shop near campus. We came here for breakfast. Limited menu but food was good. Apparently now has new name and owner so hopefully same standards are maintained.
Horrible portion size, especially for the price. Bad value overall,. Good taste, however. No power outlets, do you not want customers?
Name has now changed to Tosca. We visited Ames and met friends there for coffee. Coffee was good. Muffins were a little dry. Price for two Americanos and two muffins was $11 which we thought was reasonable. Server was great and attentive. Our friends from...Ames say they like to come there for lunch and especially sit outside and they like it also.More
Changed ownership and name. Now called Tosca? Been coming here several times a year for past 4 years . Good coffee and breakfast used to be great but limited. Now the food was mediocre, service was BAD and SLOW! Not cheap either. Espresso was good...but took 20 minutes and place was less than half full and no outside so we are talking 20 people tops. Had to beg for sugar and no spoons to stir. Then we get eyeballs from the “manager “ MUCH. Better options in Ames. The Cafe and Provisions (same group) not cheap but special.More
Great coffee. But the food wasn't so good.. the biscuits and gravy looked similar to dog food. I had the avocado toast which was pretty good overall. The presentation on the avocado toast was very good. FYI the eggs are only available poached so no...scrambled eggs here. My husband had wanted a basic scrambled eggs and bacon but nope only poached.More
while the food and drinks are good, they are extremely expensive. In a college town, for this place to be so expensive is inappropriate. Most of these college kids are barely making it with rent, food, and utilities. They should not have to skip rent...to go to a restaurant. Shame on these people for being so greedy. Buuuuut, if you can afford it, yea, go ahead and go. Food and drinks are delicious.More
Perfect walking distance from our stay at Iowa House B&B. Always fun hot coffees and pastries. They do a great pour over coffee. In nicer weather, sitting on patio is awesome
We stopped for a couple of nice breakfast sandwiches and a cuppa coffee. Nice quiet spot, with a great patio. Nice staff.
Excellent coffee and tea choices. Love their tomato basil soup. Good sandwiches with lots of healthy choices. Great venue to meet friends
We pulled into town late on a Sunday night, and this location was open and serving food till 10. ON A SUNDAY! The food was delicious. We also enjoyed coffee from this establishment the next morning. Local art adorns the walls, and they do serve...beer and wine. Outdoor and indoor seating options. The staff was friendly and attentive. We looked for something (anything) comparable over the 6+ hour drive home and couldn't find anything like it on Monday. Very glad we found it.More
The Stomping Grounds is a great place to go on a summer evening to sit outdoors, enjoy a fine glass of wine and enjoy their unique appetizers and entrees. The service is also great.
One of my favorite places in Ames, delicious plates that are the perfect size not too small or big! I love the Breakfast Croissant, it is the best way to start your day! This is the best place to eat in the fall when the...leaves are changing and you can still sit outside!More
The Ames market doesn't want fancy or creative it wants consistency and not changing your menu for a decade is surely consistent. We really like this place. Its got a good setting near campus, has the NY Times and as I said its consistent. All...the menu choices are ok but we know what we're getting. I like this a stop on my bike ride, they have a selection of beers.More
Okay food, found hair in the food. I would suggest they wear hair nets. Drinks were good. Service was good.
