I hadn't been to a buffet in 3 years, but everything was packed (no one in Ames eats at home) so we decided with trepidation to go to the Mongolian grill. First off, every person has masks and most have gloves on too. I told...them I did not want to sit close to others (I have COPD and can't risk contamination if I don't have to) and no problem, they sit us by ourselves. The food goes from amazing to needs to be hotter, but over all, you are going to get full and enjoy your time there. I think it's going to be an easy favorite for us from now on.More

Boards at the front present a huge menu of authentic Chinese dishes, but be warned - unless you can read Chinese they are useless to you, as they lack English labelling. I am not sure if they are all on the English menu or not,...as I haven't seen the English menu. Food is decent. I wouldn't say it blows me away, but certainly just fine for a sit-down lunch or take-out.More

My wife and I had a good dinner at Joy's. Ample portions: we took away enough for a second dinner tomorrow. Place is clean and the server accommodating though she was busy making up take-out orders. Only one other sit-down customer while we were there;...but lots of orders being picked up. We shared a plate of pork and bok-choi dumplings that were very good. I ordered lamb with scallions; my wife ordered sesame chicken. No frills here: plastic cutlery, paper napkins, tepid bottled water. Prices very reasonable.More

We came a bit late for the buffet hours (8 pm) and found several things have apparently slipped since earlier reviews. The property inside and out is worn, dingy and overall seems less than clean. The buffet tables were steaming but the food in the...pans was not hot. Apparently we were there after their rush and their kitchen and dining staff were spread out on the dining tables eating their dinner, sorting supplies etc. at at least 5 different tables throw out the place. Dishes and cleaning rags sat on another dozen tables the whole time we were there. Value was decent, but we had lost our appetites. When we left, the parking lot was dark- no lights on and the sign on the building had several burned out sections.More

Although I opted for a take order of Mongolian beef, the special of the day, i was delighted with the service received and the price paid for this delicious meal. There were only Asian, mostly chinese students, in the restaurant at 6:30 PM that day....They were all having Chinese food and conversing in Chinese with the staff. The menus' were in Chinese and English. The proprietor tossed in an extra appetizer to my delight ( egg roll ) and my food was ready in about 10 minutes. I would have dined in, but I had a meeting attend. Afterwards , i had my meal and it was simply delicious ! I shall be going back when I am in Ames again. I highly recommend this small, but delightful restaurant for a wonderful dining experience. PJC 10/18/2019More

This restaurant has really good food and offers a wide variety of dishes. Both locals and international students seem to enjoy the food. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

I don't know if it was timing or what, but we went into this Restaraunt around 7:15 pm for dinner. The food in the buffet was NOT good at all; however, the Mongolian grill selections were descent (only about 6 out of 10). I did...not know if the food s on the hot bars had been sitting too long or what, but all foods were hard and old tasting. When we walked in, we thought it was going to be great, because the Restaraunt was full, but that was not the case. Maybe another day, w will have a better experience.More

The food must be good and truly Chinese, because there were several Chinese students eating while I was there. I think the key is that you need to know what you want to eat and know what to expect in terms of type of spices,...I was adventurous and requested a dish for lunch that I had never had before which turned out to be too spicy, too much garlic or else. I was not feeling well the rest of the day, but it was probably my fault. Parking is metered, 25 cents per 20 minutes I think.More

One of our favorite places. So many choices! There's American food and make-to-order grill also. Always seated immediately. They consistently fill the buffet table, which is nice.

We stopped while setting our child up at ISU. Parking can be an issue. The food is very affordable and the portions are very generous. Our daughter will probably be a regular in no time.

They are a nice Asian restaurant, but nothing exceptional. It is not a typical Mongolian Grill, it is a nice Asian restaurant.

We almost didn't go into this restaurant because of the shape the building is in. The inside didn't make us feel much better, this building should probably be condemned. However, things did appear to be clean and we had heard great reviews, so we ordered....The dumplings we got for an appetizer were wonderful, as were the lomein noodles. The service was quick and precise, but still friendly. I recommend the food, but would also recommend to take it out.More

This isn't Mongolian, it's Chinese. And it's good Chinese. You will be tempted to walk out when you see the interior, but don't. It is extremely well-aged leather benches. Clean. The whiteboard menu is entirely in Chinese. They have a paper menu in English in...case your Chinese is rusty. Takeout or eat in. Be brave, eat in. Nothing wowed me, hence 4 out of 5. I had kung pao chicken and wasn't disappointed. My daughter had orange chicken, her favorite.More
