Dinner at Aunt Maudes in Ames

I love Aunt Maudes! Cozy and warm, great food and service in a place conducive for conversation. My favorite in Ames for celebratory dinner. Lots of entrees to recommend but the Tri Tip is probably my favorite.

By far the best fine dining in Ames! Quaint, so reservations are suggested. A little pricey but well worth it. Don't visit Ames without eating at Aunt Maudes!

On the whole, Aunt Maud's is a great place to get a drink or have a meal. The prices are reasonable and the food is good. As the city of Ames is concerned, it is likely one of the best 2 or 3 places to go. The ambiance hasn't changed much over the last 3 decades but why should it.... More

Went there while on business in the Ames area. Had a great experience!!! Food was amazing, and a great local feel to the place. Bartenders were fun in their interaction with me. Absolutely recommend this place!

We went here expecting to try dishes we had read about only to find that the menu is limited and they change featured dishes often. I ended up choosing the simply grilled salmon with a Caesar salad and my husband got the featured dish of seared salmon with a house salad. We also ordered the featured appetizer of roasted garlic... I love their filet. One of the few places in town that can make it really well, maintaining meat soft and not overcooked. The selection of wines is very good too. Only detail that I think could improve, are desserts: a bit too rich and heavy.

Always a pleasure to dine there, excellent food, service, and ambience! Located a block from the quaint Ames downtown. Locally owned and operated. We appreciate that the menu features specials as well as tried and true favorites. We enjoy lunch there as well. Maudes will not disappoint

In town on business and we went here with a group of people. They are known for their seafood dishes. I had one of their salmon dishes which was very good. The house salad was fresh. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.
