We had a big group of kids and adults. We separated the kids at their own group of tables while adults sat together. The waitresses were kind to all of us for such a huge group and the restaurant was very accommodating. The food was good even for a temporary menu during Covid. The wait staff explained everything well and brought everything out in a time.y manner. I would strongly recommend this place to friends visiting Ames and it was my first time in Ames.

We arrived an hour before closing on a Thursday evening and were surprised by the nice "Irish" décor...and gentle sessions music playing in the dining area. The menu provided a nice choice of Irish themed dishes which were delivered hot by our busy server. Just before we came in (two of us), a large group of 15 or so had arrived which took our server's attention, so service was a little slow, but well worth the wait.

This is a good choice for a pint and to grab some traditional Irish food like shepherd's pie, fish and chips or bangers and mash while in Ames. Fun and lively atmosphere. Busy but we were still able to get a table with only about a 20 min wait on a night after a Cyclone home football game. Food was good but not great but was in large portions and satisfying.

This pub's atmosphere is nice, the beer selection is good, the wait staff was very good but the "good" and "nice" stops with the food. I order the "stew" I forget which one but it was not a stew. I know what they did, they cooked the lamb and veg then reserved a few chunks and then blended the rest. I counted only four chunks of veg and three small pieces of lamb. Virtually, all I could taste was salt. Why? One can add salt at the table but one can not remove salt. Irish soda bread bunkum! The bread was dence and the few raisons were ground up. The cook buttered the bread and grill it. My husband had cornedbeef and cabbage. popycock. Again, salty. This was not authentic at all. He was served a helping of salty and overly peppered mash, cabbage if that is what they called it but it was a sauteed salty mess. No carrots and the cornedbeef was cut like into deli ribbons. I have eaten at a lot of Irish pubs in the US and in Ireland so I know what Irish food is supposed to taste and look like. I truly hate giving bad reviews but we were looking forward to this dinner and we were more than disappointed. I saw other reviews that have pointed out the food was too salty. Why have they not fixed the problem.

Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated in the bar area where there were only 3-4 other occupied tables. The one end of the bar was PILED high with dirty dishes and the waitress acted like she was swamped. After we were seated she proceeded to loudly tell someone else that she didn't have time to get to our table!! That should have been our indication to leave. Someone finally took our order but I had to go to the bar myself to get our beer. Soup and cold with a big dollop of sour cream. Not sure how they expected it to melt when the soup cold. The sandwich had so much dressing on it the bread was soggy. I didn't even eat mine. All in all terrible experience.

We’ve been to a number of British/UK inspired restaurants around the country so we thought we’d give Dublin Bay a shot when we were in the area. There’s a lot to like about this cool pub/restaurant beyond the food, which is good because unfortunately the food is ordinary at best. The food itself ranged from dull, poorly seasoned and uninspired to overly salty and poorly presented. It seems as though the restaurant is banking on the ambience and cool activities and the food comes 2nd. In that vein, the beer and drink selection is excellent. The atmosphere and service are great and the restaurant has some cool things going on there. Unfortunately, the quality and flavor of the food seems less important than the other factors. That’s unfortunate because Dublin Bay really does hit the mark in so many areas. Food quality and flavor just isn’t one of them. Still, worth giving them a shot but we just can’t quite recommend them. Two thumbs sideways. -The Power Trippers

Had the shepherd's pie, which was very good, though made with ground beef rather than lamb. Wife and daughter had boxtie with bangers (sausages). The food was good, served very hot (at least the shepherd's pie was), and flavorful. Service was friendly, and as it was a late lunch on a Monday, it was not very busy.

While staying at a very nice RV resort about 30 minutes away, friends from our pre-retirement days suggested we meet for dinner, assuring us it was worth the drive. It was. Around 5 midweek, it was slow. By the time we left - not! Pretty overwhelmed by a lengthy draft offering, I told our waitress that my favorite beer was Coors so as to elicit guidance. Both she suggested were spot on. My Rueben was unsurpassed. My wife’s ribeye sandwich, the same. A great reunion with old friends was the only thing that exceeded this outing!

We enjoyed the atmosphere here. The chicken planks are delicious and staff are very friendly. This is also a family friendly restaurant and my teenager ordered the hamburger which he said was very good. It seems to fill up quickly, lots of after work crowd Highly recommend

Great spot. Have to admit though I haven’t tried much of their menu because I’ve I always gotten the O’Brien’s stew when I’ve visited. Would highly recommend the Kent’s Apple Pie mead from Moonstruck Meadery as well. Service is always great and decent prices.

The service was excellent. However, the food was not. We both ordered Boxty's. They were cold and tasteless. The side of cottage cheese was enough for two people. I've been to Ireland several times. We always eat at Gallagher's in Dublin. They are famous for their Boxty's. Your so called potato pancake is entirely too heavy, thick and rubbery. A good Boxty has a very thin pancake. Take a trip to Ireland and discover what a truely great Boxty is.

Our doctoral program group gathered for a 20-year reunion. The management at Dublin Bay was very helpful in our planning process making sure we had a table large enough for our group (and somewhat out of the way to avoid annoying other customers with our chatter!). The server was very professional in taking orders, answering questions, and settling separate tabs. The food was excellent with a good range of selections available for various appetites and preferences. This was not my first time here and certainly won't be the last!

Fantastic atmosphere and declicious food! I enjoyed the nutty walleye--wow the hazelnut cream sauce on it is amazing. The rice pilaf was not a throwaway side, but savory and yummy. And who doesn't love brussel sprouts covered in bacon and red onion?! Two thumbs up.

Always a positive experience when visiting Dublin Bay and such a great place to bring family and friends. Like other reviews, the Nutty Walleye continues to be my go-to with that delicious hazelnut cream sauce. Portions are quite large so I love enjoying this as leftovers the next day. I'm excited to go again this spring since there is a new patio space!
