Fantastic atmosphere and declicious food! I enjoyed the nutty walleye--wow the hazelnut cream sauce on it is amazing. The rice pilaf was not a throwaway side, but savory and yummy. And who doesn't love brussel sprouts covered in bacon and red onion?! Two thumbs up.

Stopped in here for lunch on our way through Ames. After looking on Tripadvisor for restaurants nearby we settled on Dublin Bay. I can't say enough, our server was outstanding and I wish I had gotten her name. Anyway, we ordered onion rings, they are...hand battered and have a unique flavor I guess due to the beers they use in the batter. My wife had the potato soup and half reuben sandwich. She said it was all great and more than she could eat. I had the Shepherd's Pie it was fantastic as well and way more than I could eat. Dublin Bay is a great place for lunch or dinner. Stop in you won't be disappointedMore

Great service and great atmosphere. We had a date night and deci to try them out. We ended up grabbing a drink and sitting in the bar for our dinner. Encrusted walleye with a side salad was perfect. Drinks were nice and strong.

Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated in the bar area where there were only 3-4 other occupied tables. The one end of the bar was PILED high with dirty dishes and the waitress acted like she was swamped. After we were seated...she proceeded to loudly tell someone else that she didn't have time to get to our table!! That should have been our indication to leave. Someone finally took our order but I had to go to the bar myself to get our beer. Soup and cold with a big dollop of sour cream. Not sure how they expected it to melt when the soup cold. The sandwich had so much dressing on it the bread was soggy. I didn't even eat mine. All in all terrible experience.More

I've had many Irish friends, lived in Irish neighborhoods, and been to Irish restaurants in many locales. I've never seen anyone screw up the traditional corned beef and cabbage dish as perfectly as this restaurant. It's a very simple meal composed of boiled corned beef,...cabbage and carrots. The meal I got consisted of thin-sliced corn beef (as used for sandwiches), no carrots some over-boiled mush that I think was once red cabbage and instead of boiled potatoes I was served garlic mashed potatoes with too much pepper. To top this delicious meal's flavor, the whole thing was drowning in salt. My wife had something awful that was supposed to be lamb stew with two small chunks of lamb which had the consistancy of soup, not stew. Not imagining the evening could go worse, it did get worse. I gave them a fresh $25 gift card in addition to a credit card. The server came back and told me there was only $20.50 available on the card and didn't return it. I thought something was screwy so I called the manager when I got home and he repeated the story but promised to return the gift card mail which he did. I then checked the balance and found $14.50 was deducted leaving $10.50 remaining. Now if that isn't very suspicious I don't know what is, so I've sent a letter to Ames P.D. just to alert them in case there are any patterns. Just wait until the dust clears, and then guess what would have happened to that remaining balance. At best they are incompetent and at worse, they are playing petty (crime) games.More

This pub's atmosphere is nice, the beer selection is good, the wait staff was very good but the "good" and "nice" stops with the food. I order the "stew" I forget which one but it was not a stew. I know what they did, they...cooked the lamb and veg then reserved a few chunks and then blended the rest. I counted only four chunks of veg and three small pieces of lamb. Virtually, all I could taste was salt. Why? One can add salt at the table but one can not remove salt. Irish soda bread bunkum! The bread was dence and the few raisons were ground up. The cook buttered the bread and grill it. My husband had cornedbeef and cabbage. popycock. Again, salty. This was not authentic at all. He was served a helping of salty and overly peppered mash, cabbage if that is what they called it but it was a sauteed salty mess. No carrots and the cornedbeef was cut like into deli ribbons. I have eaten at a lot of Irish pubs in the US and in Ireland so I know what Irish food is supposed to taste and look like. I truly hate giving bad reviews but we were looking forward to this dinner and we were more than disappointed. I saw other reviews that have pointed out the food was too salty. Why have they not fixed the problem.More

We had a big group of kids and adults. We separated the kids at their own group of tables while adults sat together. The waitresses were kind to all of us for such a huge group and the restaurant was very accommodating. The food was...good even for a temporary menu during Covid. The wait staff explained everything well and brought everything out in a time.y manner. I would strongly recommend this place to friends visiting Ames and it was my first time in Ames.More

Had the shepherd's pie, which was very good, though made with ground beef rather than lamb. Wife and daughter had boxtie with bangers (sausages). The food was good, served very hot (at least the shepherd's pie was), and flavorful. Service was friendly, and as it...was a late lunch on a Monday, it was not very busy.More
