Hickory Park Restaurant is a fun, family restaurant. The place is huge, and every inch if it is decorated with antiques and nostalgic signs. It's like visiting Wall Drug in Iowa. The food is not gourmet, but it is good. Be sure to have a malt with your meal or save room for the extensive ice cream options for dessert.

After touring the ISU veterinary hospital we had lunch at Hickory Park. The food is always great and be sure and save room for their ice cream specialties. We have enjoyed Hickory Park for many years.

that makes Hickory Park the most popular restaurant in Ames? I'll tell you. It is the great food and fast, friendly service! This place is always packed with people. Expect a wait...., but trust me, it is worth it! It is amazing how many people they serve....., and how efficiently they do it. The food is always excellent and comes... More

My son attends Iowa State University and every time we make a visit we make a point of going to Hickory Park. Don't let the long line at the busy time stop you. They have a lot of seating and you won't have to wait very long. And the wait is well worth it!! The BBQ aroma is amazing and... More

The food is as good as the place is loud. When the place is half full or more, the concrete floors, open air kitchen, and open air dessert counter make it difficult to have a conversation with anyone not directly beside you. The place is popular. If you don't like long wait times, avoid before and after Iowa State football... More

This place is huge, loud, and bustling. We waited a good 20 minutes to be seated. Service was average. Portions were HUGE! Everything we ate was very good. I wish I saved room for ice cream!

Hickory Park offers very good smoked meats and delicious sides. You get generous portions for a reasonable price. The service is always friendly and they are good at handling a full house. For dessert, you can choose from a variety of delicious ice cream creations. This is a popular place to eat.

I have eaten at Hickory Park and it is good food that is at an excellent price. We send guests there quite often when they are looking for a place to eat in the Ames area.

Son looked this up and top rated on Trip Advisor and elsewhere. Appeared to be just loads of people waiting for tables. Don't let this deter you. We didn't have to wait very long. We were told 30 minutes. It was less than 20. Staff was great. Food was wonderful Four of us shared the Combination Dinner. We stuffed but... More

Hickory Park is the most popular restaurant in Ames. Anything on their menu is great and their prices are very affordable. Prepare for a long wait to have excellent barbecue and sundaes.
