We have been here a handful of times now and the pizza has always been great. We just went hear again recently and had the thin white crust pizza. We enjoyed this a bit more as it didn't feel as filling as some of the other crusts. Make sure you try the honey out at the tables to dip your... More

Great Plains is the place to go for great pizza while you are in Ames, IA. Known far and wide for their excellent pizza, this place never disappoints. I ALWAYS go to Great Plains Pizza when I visit the city. Different types of dough offered appears to be very popular, plain and wheat dough in a variety of thicknesses are... More

Great local pizza place with awesome tasting pizza. I love the crust flavors and it's not anything you would get a Pizza Hut, Dominos or other chain pizza places. The thick crust appeals to many - me personally I love the pizza up to the crust and share that part with family or friends. :-)

Great pizza. Good choices of crust types in wheat or white. They have about any toppings you could want. They have several menu pizza combinations that are very good. They have pizza by the piece at lunch time. If you want a good treat for afterwards, cookies. Big, soft, delicious cookies.

A lot of people love their pizza. It is a whole wheat crust and really thick cheese plus their sausage had a twang to it, I did not like. Their soups are good though.

Ordered a medium oat crust pizza with pineapple and pepperoni plus a drink for delivery to hotel. The food arrived quickly which is where the positive experience ends. Driver did not bring soda, said would remove from credit card charge but has not. Pizza did not have pepperoni. Pizza was not thoroughly cooked, crust was no just doughy but raw.... More

If you are tired of skimpy pizzas, come here. They are not afraid to put on a lot of cheese and toppings. Now, if you order the thick crust you are going to get a lot of crust, like you see in the pictures. They actually have bottles of honey because you need something to keep your mouth from getting... Great food. I ordered a small 10 inch and there was no way I could eat it all. Lots of variety of crusts and toppings. No waitress service. You order at the counter. Great atmosphere too. If you are handicap, the restrooms are down some really steep and narrow stairs in the basement.

Always great. Get the whole wheat thick crust. Then you use honey on the leftover crust border for a perfect dessert! There is also plenty of cheese. There may be s wait but it is worth it!

I discovered Great Plains Sauce & Dough Company about 14 years ago. I love this place! I visit often. We live about an hour away but it is our go to place when we are in Ames! Their pizza is amazing! Lots of gooey cheese and great crust! Sometimes you have to wait in a short line, but it worth... More
