Been here quite a few times and this is probably my last. Girlfriend had a chicken pasta dish that looked and tasted like you could have heated it up out of a can at home. Burgers are very blah and service is always slow. Not...stereotyping but college students more interested in talking than checking in on tables even a time or two. Go the couple miles east and get something way better.More

Great place to watch March Madness! We are in for the tournament from Georgia and this was right next to our hotel. Giving it a solid A for the food…get the corn bites! I ordered salmon and veggies and it was really good! Our waitress...was great, service was spot on and TV’s everywhere. We’ll be back after the game to order the exact same thing and sit in the same spot! Go Dawgs!More

None of the food will wow you away per se, but it is good enough to be worth it, and they have some fun menu ideas - such as those sweet corn bites (which I enjoyed.) They have outdoor seating, and the service speed and...quality was good. West Towne Pub at the end of the day is a decent spot to grab a burger and some fried accompaniments if you live in the West Ames area.More

The service was extremely slow despite the fact that there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The waitress was not attentive at all. The place was not very clean, the window sills were disgusting and you could see all the dirt along the edges of...the floor. The door was filthy like it had mud splashed up on it but it had not rained in over a week. The sink had pink mold around the faucet. The food was mediocre. We were very disappointed. This was not one of our favorite places in town but we would go occasionally for a change. It needs a good cleaning and updating. Probably won't be back unless we hear that they have made improvements.More

The French Fries, Sweet Corn Bites and Onion Rings were very good. I was served the worst Corned Beef Reuben that I have ever had. Two wafer thin, very dry slices of corned beef and no sauerkraut. The fillings were thinner than one slice of...the bread! The California Avocado BLT Burger seemed to be missing the guacamole. The service by our waitress was good. It was a Friday night and was getting very noisy by the time we left (5:30pm)More

My daughter and I drove to IA from Chicago to pick up my granddaughter. By the time we checked into our hotel we were tired and hungry. The West Towne Pub was walking distance and had our side seating which was perfect. We both ordered...drinks, chicken sandwiches and fries. The food was good, but service was very slow.it appeared the wait staff was really working so I would have to assume it was the kitchen that was really slow. The other issue was that although there were signs requiring masks to enter none of the clientele wore masks a. The staff did wear them. It was a good meal.More

We rented the party room after a softball tournament and had a very nice experience. Our server was working very hard to keep us happy and did a great job. Food was typical bar food with a bit of an upscale kick and everyone seemed...very pleased with everything from apps to kids meals to entrees. Good selection of drinks and the bucket special was a hit. Very good experience!More

We stopped in here after shopping. I would have loved to sit on the large outdoor patio but it was about 100degrees and humid! Service was fast, it wasn’t really busy as we were there at an off time. My burger was good and my...husband’s steak sandwich was too. He also liked the gizzards.More

Atmosphere was much nicer than Jethro's and thought that the boneless wings were better here. Both places had boneless wings that were actually small strips of chicken, just thought these were thicker, more moist and tastier. I had the salmon and steamed vegetables for a...main course and the salmon was done just right...I recommend it. Don't leave without sharing a piece of Chocolate Infusion dessert - layer upon layer of different types of chocolate that is SO good. Mousse and ganache look very light and whipped, but once you spoon into it, you realize just how rich and thick it is!More

When visiting our son, we usually call West Towne Pub for lunch. It is ready in 10-15 minutes and so delicious and very accomodating. Highly recommend.

We live in Ankeny, however, our adult children live in Ames and we eat here quite a bit! Their food is always excellent and they have great service!
