Heart of America’s newest concept —the Burger Shed—is a nod to the roots of the company’s first restaurant, The Machine Shed. The Burger Shed’s menu consists of Shed favorites, specialty burgers and handcrafted shakes. From our Machine Shed roots – we remain dedicated to the American Farmer and make our food from scratch daily. The restaurant includes 5,600 square feet of indoor dining and a one hundred seat patio with lakefront views.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn and Suites and ordered carry out from the Burger Shed after a long car ride and afternoon at Adventureland. There is a beautiful walking path behind the hotel to the Burger Shed.
Their manager took our order of their cheese shreds (curds), Chicken Cobb Salad, Chicken Tender dinner, and A beef sandwich. We also ordered soft drinks and a Cookies and Cream shake (yum!!). They do charge a 3$ carry out fee for utensils (however, we didn’t get them).
Food was great, portions were LARGE, and dinners came with two sides. Service was AMAZING! The atmosphere of the restaurant felt laid back and casual. Your family could enjoy a meal here or you could meet some friends for some appetizers and cocktails. You can catch a game on their giant screens in the bar area. I sat at the bar and had a glass of wine while they worked on my order and I didn’t get to see a bar menu. However, they had a decent selection of beers on tap and a full bar from what I could see.

Best specialty burgers! Ordered take out on a Friday night (online order). It was easy to go onto the website and submit the order which was ready for pick up 30 minutes later. We decided to order the Farmhouse Burger (fried egg, hash browns, bacon jam) and added bacon with a Mac and cheese side. And also the shed burger (brisket, onion strings, bacon jam) with fries. The burgers were delicious (a combination of ground beef and ground brisket) and the toppings added just the right flavor for what we were craving. The farmhouse with the fried egg and hashbrowns with bacon added was breakfast on a burger and bun - added the pickles that came with the order and I was in heaven! The Mac and cheese was creamy, perfectly melted white cheese on noodles. The shed burger was a mouthful of juicy brisket on top if the burger with the tasty onion strings on top and also came with the shed pickles. The fries are crispy, warm and lightly seasoned - so good! The entire meal was under $30 and we were both fully satisfied. We hoped to try the corn beignets but they were not available this evening. Great cost, great food! Will go back to enjoy the patio some time!

The burgers were ok but lacked seasoning. They were thick and cooked well. The side item of mac-n-cheese appeared to have been warmed up. It was very dry and not hot at all. Onion strings were extremely greasy. Refills of tea did not come with any additional ice, so the refill was room temp for the remainder of the meal. They need to work on attention to detail for these kitchen and service items before I give them a second try. They are under The Machine Shed umbrella. They need to take a lesson from them.

I recently dined at the Burger Shed in Altoona. I got the BBQ brisket burger- a double. The burger had a nice size but lacked overall flavor. I got 2 sides the Mac and Cheese which had zero flavor and was cold/luke warm in spots fresh to the table--a definite pass and I got the fries. On a positive note the ranch here is excellent. For desert I got the bread pudding, it was nothing to write home about. It also came with ice cream the touted as homemade but reminded me of something out of the spicket of a McDonalds shake machine. For $33 dollars, I'd say that pushing it for a burger and desert. Would eat at Burger Shed again? Probably not.

From the moment we entered the restaurant, we had a pleasant experience. The hostess was cheerful and engaged us in conversation on the way to our seats. The waiter was awesome. He made suggestions for menu items, kept our drinks refilled, and chatted after our meal. The restaurant’s decor was trendy and clean. Two other staff members stopped by our table to make sure we were satisfied with our experience. The burgers and shakes were very tasty. I wish this was a restaurant chain because I would definitely visit often if it was in my home state.

Dined here for the first time recently. Very nice facility in a lovely setting. Strange ingress and egress as there is no direct access to the street in front of the restaurant. Instead one must drive in and out of the natural entrance of the Fairfield hotel or Johnnies Italian Steakhouse. Service was initially good but our server did not check back promptly after the meal was served to our table. French Fries were not hot and by the time he checked back with us our meal was half eaten and we decided to skip saying anything. Servings were large and prices were ok for this quality of restaurant.
I had the pork tenderloin sandwich and a side salad. Both were huge and good. My spouse had the brisket meal which she described as so so. We will try this place again in the future

Comfortable atmosphere, $5 kids meals, local beers. Our food was good and came out quick! Cobb salad was so good, huge serving size. Tator tots were great. Stout on draft was tasty. Within walking distance of hotel as well. They only drawback was the service. Our waitress was uninterested, our food came out before she brought our draft beers from the bar, and we had to ask for water refills and the check.

About our 3rd or 4th time at the Shed. Just my wife and I so we always sit at the bar. Had a great time and the food and service was really good. We had the cheese curds and my wife had the reuben sandwich and I had the cup of cheeseburger soup and the no BS burger. Bartender working the night of 1/2/2021 on the bottom floor was great and a lot of fun. Sorry didn't get her name. Thanks for a great night.

Service was sloowwww. Food was delivered mostly cold. Sanwhiches were very dry. Getting the attention of wait staff to get ketchup was near impossible. We tried the place, probably won't get a second visit.

Went to Burger shed Altoona today as a delayed Mother's day treat. Appetizer delivered with meal. Odds not too bad 1 out of 4 meals disappointing. Sad kept picking on same recipient. Two bites in found cheese paper still on burger. staff offer of something else or removed from bill and free dessert was a acceptable response, however after long wait shake came and was melted and wrong shake.

My husband ordered the bbq brisket burger and I got a cobb salad (don't judge me, it was a really good salad!) and both were delicious. The tater tots were good as well. There were lots of choices for burgers and sandwiches and we hope to return when we are in the area. Staff all wore masks and tables were well apart from each other. Staff was friendly and helpful. I brought half my salad home for the next day.

Two things I like about eating at a place for the first time: 1) Picking something off their online menu in advance that is maybe a bit "over the top" or otherwise sets it aside from similar items that I can pick at other restaurants in the area. 2) Be satisfied to the point that I'd be willing to come back to the same restaurant the next day and order the same item. BAM, Burger Shed, you knocked this one out of the park.
Dined at Burger Shed in Altoona this past Saturday, got there about 11:30am and was really surprised they were not more busy as an Iowa FB game was on all the TV's. Here's the nice thing, this place has 2 floors so the ceilings are high and it wasn't as noisy as I thought it would be, NICE!
We were seated on the 2nd floor, and our waiter Tommy was at our table within a minute. He was a pretty cool guy, answered a couple questions we had, took good care of us. As for the burgers we chose. My wife got the Shed Burger, which had beef brisket, pepper jack cheese, BBQ sauce and fried onion strings. It had lettuce, tomato and onion on the side. I chose the Farmhouse Burger, which had a fried egg, hash browns, bacon jam and American cheese. Folks, these were 2 of THE BEST signature burgers burgers we've had, and we travel lots.
Even the restrooms were clean. This is important to us, and you know this if you follow us. People get turned off by sloppy restrooms. Keep it up Burger Shed.

Reviews were so so, but we were staying at a near by hotel within walking distance and wanted someplace casual so thought we would check it out. We were very happy with our choice. The burgers were very good and the Mac and cheese was yummy. Some of our group ordered fries with their meals which were not the best, were not very hot. Sad because they come out in your very own fryer basket. Service was friendly and efficient. Great location with a nice atmosphere!

Stopped here for appetizers and drinks as the menu looked promising and our son has been here once and said it was good. Ordered two appetizers - beer cheese fondue with pretzels and spinach artichoke dip, a sandwich - brisket, drinks and a shake for the table. The appetizers were very disappointing. Chips were stale and the vegetables were far from fresh. The dips were not great. Sandwich and fries were average. Food came out fast, shake was forgotten but then brought out when we reminded server. Service was okay but not very attentive. As we were leaving, we noticed another party had left an entire nacho plate almost uneaten. Definitely not worth the drive.

My husband ordered an appetizer of cheese curds which were good except the batter was a little salty. I ordered the chicken wings plate and they came to the table hot and very good. My husband got a cheeseburger which he said had no flavor and the bun was too thick and dry. I can't believe that this meal cost us $44.00. The interior was
great. I can say for certain that we won't be back
