We are so lucky to have such a wonderful bakery in our area. If they don't have it on display ask. They have a lot of great Hungarian items, but you have to ask for them. The homage bread is out of this world. We get all our birthday cakes here as well. They are very creative with the cakes.... More

The place makes better baked goods than the supermarkets , however we quit going there because the don't have sugar free pies anymore

This is a nice little bakery that has been in Alton for a long time. They have a wide variety of baked goods but are known for their donuts. Pick up a dozen glazed donuts, you won't be sorry!

So many tasty baked goods ~ So hard to choose. Both versions of the baklava were delicious and the cinnamon rolls are big.

I used to go to Dukes fairly often due to it being a very short walk from my home. The donuts always seemed a little stale but I was OK with that due to the convenience of the shop. Then I tried their cookies. Worst cookies ever! They were hard and stale, not soft and chewy like I prefer. The... More

It was great tasting. The service was less than enthusiastic. Not a huge selection. Blueberry muffin and a cinnamon roll.

Took our grandkids here after visiting the Great Rivers Museum and out for lunch. We first attempted dessert at Just My Desserts (which we left after being disappointed in them). We were so glad we found Duke Bakery. Delicious and very family. We got our dessert and breakfast for the next morning for a quarter of the price we have... More

My fitness center is in Alton and I drove a different way home. I thought I'd meet and treat my wife with a baked goodie. I saw the strawberry cream horns and they called to me. I told the counter girl "2 cream horns" she asked strawberry or chocolate? CHOCOLATE !!?? I got one of each plus two plain donuts... More

I love Duke's marble cake with butter cream icing. The cakes are always fresh and tastefully completed. I'm not a fan of their donuts but their cookies are excellent. They are very accommodating.

When I pick up my grandson from kindergarten a couple of times each week, I ask what he would like to do. He always answers, "Dukes Bakery". When I ask him why, he says that they have really good treats. For all of my nearly 69 years I have not been able to drive past Dukes without stopping and sampling.... More
