Stopped in here while simply trying to find something that wasn't a chain. Atmosphere was awesome....like I could see my granddad sitting next to me in the 1950s awesome. Prices were very reasonable. Food was solid, and had several 'hot plate' specials. Multiple generations were there. Glad I stopped in...I will again.

It is like taking a step back in time. The owner hand makes every order, cracking eggs one by one while you can watch from your booth. Best omlet and hash browns I have had in a long time.

The owner Jimmy is a very friendly person. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The food is delicious and cheap. Can't say enough great things about this gem of a place.

We found this in trip advisor and drove right by because its so unassuming. Went in and immediately felt at home! The owner immediately came over and started playing with the kids, taking and chatting. The food was superb and great prices!!! Can't wait to come back!

I love to go to this family owner place. The owners are the best. I love everything I have ever ordered there. My favorite is the country fried steak. I will always go back when I have time.

One of Alton's oldest family owned diners. Good wholesome home cooked meals reasonably priced. Jimmy the owned and cook makes you feel like family.

Stopped in for Breakfast on our way to go up the great river road and enjoy the fall colors. It is a diner that has been there for over 100 years. Food was good. Menu a bit confusing.

Wide and I stopped here before some shopping in Alton. Family owned and run for a LONG time. I thing since the 40's? Just a great little diner like you'd see growing up. Great food and wonderful people. Only open for breakfast and lunch I believe and I look forward to going back for their breakfast one of these days.... More

I have been there several times and I enjoyed it every time. It's not new, it's been around for years. This is like the old diners from the 50's and 60's. There is a line of tables along the wall and a counter with stools. The prices are very reasonable. The couple that own and run the place add a... More

If you are looking for a trip to the past, visit G-B Grill in Alton. The original diner with the large eating bar and stools, booths with hanging jukebox control with the oldies but goodies music still shown. Cooking is right there in front of you and the husband and wife team are the best. The Las Vegas Omelette and... More
