This is the most upscale restaurant I experianced in a couple of trips to Illinois, It;s nicer but still fairly casual. the service was great. My food choice was ok. Sure wish I had teid the Italian.More

Arrived for lunch and we were seated immediately. Friendly staff and clean facility. I had one of the lunch specials of salad and mostaccioli along with garlic bread. The food was very good and served quickly. The waitress was very attentive. They have several lunch...specials that were less than $10. They are noted for their fried chicken which I have had in the past and it is very good. Great place for lunch.More

I knew this place many years ago as the "Moonlight," long before Hwy 255 was built. I was in Alton for my high school reunion, and I wanted to treat my wife to a great dinner. I really like the "rural" setting of this place......sooo peaceful out there. The place has a "classy" feel to it when you go in (but fear not... it is "casual dress," for sure.) My wife and I both enjoyed our meals. Our server was very attentive, informative, and pleasant. BUT... after we had "settled in" to a nice, large booth, we realized... the service door to the kitchen (or dish washing area) was located just to the side of our booth. Many times during our meal we could hear the "ka-thunk" of tubs of dishes being moved around. I could even "feel" slight vibrations at my booth with some of the "ka-thunks." The bussing crew also sure did like to TALK LOUD back in that corner while shuffling dishes into the service area. I'm thinking that not only our booth, but also the two tables located on that side of the room had the noise factor hitting them (but probably not the "vibrations" I encountered.) So... my suggestion is you do not accept seating directly on your left as you enter the dining room. Oh... yeah... one other thing... if you dine too close to closing time, you will find the staff will begin their carpet-sweeping routine in the dining room before you are finished eating. But, rest assured, you will enjoy the food!More

God Bless GOOGLE for helping me find this location as it was DEF off the beaten path for travelers! Parking spaces were plentiful and handicapped accessible! Got there before the dinner rush (thank goodness) were seated promptly. a basket of fresh bread and crackers to...keep us busy while waiting for our supper. There was servers all around, some to clear tables, some to bring water, some who i only saw walking around... what was slightly lacking was a waitress who could refill my drink. The place went from only a few folks to no empty tables in a short time, and our waitress didn't come back for a bit. thankfully i had a glass of water to drink in addition to our soda. *Note this is not a unlimited refill place, menu said limit of 2 soda refills. It doesn't say so anywhere, but you pay your waitress at the table and NOT the hostess at the little stand on your way out!More

The fried chicken and salad are worth the trip to Fosterburg. Although they changed management, the recipes have stayed the same. The chicken is crisp on the outside but tender and moist inside. The homemade salad is so delicious and fresh that you could make...a meal out it and the bread.More

Met after volunteering. Dinner with my Rose 🌹. We always review what the specials are for the evening. Friday evening they have some really good specials. Last Friday it was Ribeye with chicken and 2 sides, always a good choice. Even better was the Prime...Rib with 4 shrimp, potato and soup or salad for $20.99. Our prime rib was delicious, shrimp were crunchy delicious, the Roman dressing on my salad was great, just a little to much dressing on it. She had the tortilini which she said was delicious. Can’t forget the 2 bartender girls. They know how to make adult drinks as well as drinks for the kids. The waitresses keep dinner moving at a reasonable pace, never rushing anything. They get it right the first time. Can’t help but mention the chicken, it’s delicious and hot. You can get everything on the menu as a togo including the roman dressing, make sure you get the bread crumbs to go with it.More

I have been going to the moonlight from the 1950's and remember when one of your boys my age was working on hot rods and was killed when he hit a tree in the golf course. He was going with my friends sister Phillis. We had...reserved a room for 20 guest Sunday night and were really shocked when we were told we only had four choices. My brother in law wanted catfish, the other brother in law wanted chicken gizzards and I wanted chicken livers. Nope you can only order these dinners we have shown you by each plate..We should have left and came back in as individuals and ordered our dinners. The restaurant is not good like it use to be. I never had my glass refilled the whole evening. We are quite disappointed and feel like we were ripped off because were not allowed to order what we wanted. We have spent a lot of money over the years at your restaurant. It is a shame that you have to buy a certain price dinner when you bring in 20 guest.More

This is the third time I've been ti Castelli's and it always lives up to the memory of my previous visits. We were there late afternoon and 2 in our party ordered off the lunch menu which is available until pm. I had the steak...with the filet mignon rolled in fresh cracked pepper, seasoned with spices and topped with garlic butter. It was absolutely delicious!! For my sides I had a cup of chowder and the fettuccine. The portion of fettuccine was large and probably the best I've ever had. My husband had the fried chicken and got 2 breast pieces which were huge and delicious as well. The down side was we were too full to have dessert. This is a place I love to eat at when I am in the area.More
