We decided to eat here as it was late and we had been on the move all day. It was alright. The bartender was not very friendly when we asked if we can sit anywhere. She just looked at us as we arrived, no one...else was around and we didn't know if we should wait to be seated, and kind of snapped her response to me. Our server, Amy, was great. She had lots of suggestions and was very friendly. I do wish there were more plant based options as the frozen veggie patty was meh at best. It was nice to at least have that option. If I stayed again I think I'd look for somewhere else to eat but it is convenient to have onsite. If you eat meat there are more options and my aunt enjoyed her meal. We had the 2/$25 special and it was fine. The best part was Amy and how friendly she was.More

Great meal. Not sure this could be expected colocated with a Best Western Premier. Great homemade food. The chef is of Polish descent. We had pierogis and a great order of catfish tacos.

We went for Alton restaurant week last night. The restaurant was very generous with their deal for restaurant week. We thoroughly enjoyed the pierogies, the basin Burger, their delicious wide and thin french fries, the Kentucky cream ale, and the ginger cheesecake with peaches. It's...a really pleasant environment there.More

I can't recommend this place enough for the fresh food. I don't know why it took me so long to discover it. It's located in the newly remodeled Best Western. A group of girlfriends went for lunch and we ordered a variety of foods. Everyone...enjoyed their selections. I had the Pierogies and a wood-fired mushroom pizza. Our waitress was friendly and talkative. I told her that I had pierogies in Poland and that the ones at Great Rivers compared very well. She told me the chef was from Poland and that he took great pains to make everything fresh and in house. She bragged on his skills and rightfully so. She was also excellent at her job and made us feel welcome. We already have our next visit planned!More

The Great Rivers Tap is a restaurant tucked away in the newly remodeled Premier Hotel in Alton. When asked to meet some family members there for dinner I admittedly wrinkled my nose and was reluctant. After dining there I was disappointed in myself for prejudging...a place before I tried it. The food was great and the service was friendly. The wild mushroom pizza , salad and sandwiches were on point. The atmosphere is super relaxing. It is obvious the owners and staff have a passion for what they do. Don’t pass this one by. It is worthy of your dining dollar and support.More

We tried Great Rivers Tap & Grill because they were participating in All Star Restaurant Week. We ended up having the wood fired pizza, which was delicious. We plan on returning because of the outstanding service and great food. I highly recommend.

My wife and I visited for the first time during Alton Restaurant Week. For the 2 for $25 Restaurant Week special we picked 2 12" Pizzas of our choosing and the potato & cheddar pierogis appetizer, both of which were heartily endorsed by our waitress...Cindy. Also included in the special were any beverages of our choice. Cindy, who couldn't have been more friendly, did not steer us wrong! The thin crust used for the pizzas is handmade every day from scratch by the chef, as are all of the breads, as I recall Cindy saying, They were delicious. I had the Mushroom special, and my wife, being a vegetarian had a delicious DIY pizza with all veggies. And the pierogis appetizer was excellent. We will go back again, and will not mind paying their regular, reasonable prices.More

My husband and I were staying at the hotel on a cold December night, so we were happy to see the restaurant so highly rated. We were not disappointed. My husband loves pizza and thought this was better than most specialty pizza restaurants. The soup...had plenty of chicken.More
