We visited Hali'imaile General Store after our (soggy) Maui Pineapple Tour. It was pouring down rain most of the morning, but you would never have known it from within the bright, cheery restaurant! Service was very good; food was excellent. The BBQ sandwich was one of the best menu items we had in any restaurant during two weeks of touring... More

We were given a recommendation to eat here because of the amazing desserts, but I'd have to say . . . ALL of the food was fantastic. Great location (clean, breezy, light-filled), great service and top notch food.

We had booked a reservation here last year but canceled out of concern for the casual ambiance and noise levels in the front of the house when we stopped to check it out. We decided to give it another try this year and were very pleased we did. We were seated in the back dining room which was not too... More

At $80 per person, I expect tip-top service in a refined atmosphere. This restaurant is comfortable but casually furnished; the service is friendly but not impeccable; and the food is delicious but not spectacular. I find this place seriously overpriced.

We ate a dinner here 2 years ago while visiting Maui and were underwhelmed. Decided to give lunch a try after being told it was good and we have to agree. Crab pizza app is awesome as is the poke bowl. Definitely recommend lunch over dinner here.

A local resident suggested that the Hali’imaile General Store was "almost as good as Mama's Fish House." No way! There's no comparison whatsoever foodwise, let alone view-wise and atmosphere-wise. The main courses, the fish curry and the crispy duck, were good. But the starters were stodgy and tasteless, especially the brie and grape quesadilla. And as for the so-called "crème... More

Thank you for your review. We are NOT Mama's Fish House and have never claimed to be. We are not oceanfront, have an entirely different menu and aesthetic. Perhaps if you had researched the restaurant before your arrival you would have realized this and your expectations may have been different. We apologize that you did not enjoy the quesadilla or... Recommended as an alternative, less expensive restaurant to Mama's. No comparison, go to Mama's. Service was perfunctory, don't think the server really knew the menu. I regret recommending my wife choose the monchong fish, which was incredibly dry and tasteless. My Mahi Mahi was much better so we shared the two fishes. The starter serving of clams and mussels was... More

Someone recommended instead of Mama's Fish House. These restaurants are not even in the same league. No view, super, super casual. Menu is extensive, but all the favorites are rich and overdone, like the crab pizza. Avoid at all costs. Food average, service average, not special at all. Quite loud as well.

Aloha Patti and thank you for the feedback. We are not an oceanfront restaurant, nor do we have anywhere near the same menu or esthetic of Mama's Fish House. Had you researched our menu or location on line at hgsmaui.com before your arrival that would have been clear and perhaps your expectations as well. There are photos of the restaurant... More

Food is outstanding and the service is great. Local flare along with old classic burger on steroids (my favorite) and the Poki Bowl (my wife's favorite) make this a place to stop, but the homemade Sangria from a secret recipe tops off the meal.

Each year after we visit the Makai glass blowing shop across the street, we come here for lunch or appetizer and a cocktail. This restaurant is highly known by the locals and has excellent food creations. The best thing on the menu is sashimi Napoleon which is an awesome meal. My husband did have the Kahlúa pork enchilada pie which... More
