Absolutely love this place! Atmosphere reeks of Athens, college-town (but in a good way)! I've never had anything here that I didn't love! Favorite is the Golden Bowl with a side of yeast gravy! And the sweet potato fries are a must try! Parking can be tricky, and at peak meal times, be prepared for a bit of a wait... More

The first time in here, one of my friend has invited me so, I didn't know that this is vegetarian restaurant. Although I'm not a vegetarian, but I did enjoy the food, the service was good and the staff were friendly too.

The Grit is a neat gem of a restaurant. Comfortable. The service is good. Friendly and engaging. It is vegetarian. As a life choice, I don't know much about being a vegetarian. What I will say is that we were very pleased with our selections. I chose the black bean burger with mashed potato and my wife had the noodle... More

The Grit is the essential college town old school eating place that you remember from back in the day. Simple decor, high ceiling, exposed brick, co-ed servers, beer and wine. The difference is in the food. I ordered the special Big Noodle Bowl: rice noodles with sliced yellow and white squash in a mild curry sauce served in a big... More

The food at this restaurant did not fit the type of good which I like. It is a vegetarian place and I do not like this type of food.

I've never had a bad meal at the grit, but I have ordered the wrong thing on occasion...as in I just didn't like it. I love/crave the Golden Bowl Tofu! Sometimes it's too much of a good thing, so I prefer to order the 3 option vegetarian where a cup of Golden Tofu is one of the items. It's sauteed... More

I decided to take my mom and daughter here for a special mother/daughter outing. The food was really delicious. My mother who doesn't eat vegetarian meals loved the tabouli and hummus appetizer and the tofu I had in my wrap. They also had a nice selection of cake products and the hummingbird cake was the best I've tried yet.

While our daughter was at the university, The Grit was our favorite restaurant in Athens for the outstanding quality of its varied selections. We never had a bad meal, dessert, side, salad, etc. Granted, it has been 2 years since the last time we ate there before yesterday, but I'm afraid that will be our last visit. We were so... More

I don't eat dairy and limit my meat intake-- this place is a dream! We ordered the MidE platter as an appetizer which has hummus, tabbouleh, pita, veggies, and more yummy goodness. I got the bahn mi sandwich that had marinated seitan and a wasabi aioli with veggies and my boyfriend got the falafel for his entree. It was delish... More

Didn't think I would like this as it is vegetarian. I was pleasantly surprised. I got quesadillas and they were delicious. Our service was not the best as I never got my Perrier that I asked for twice. I'm going to give her a break as we were a large party and they were getting busy at 6. Overall a... More
