We try to eat here whenever we visit family. This is the place to eat dessert first as they have the best cakes and pies! The loaded nachos with their black bean chili is fabulous as well!

Strictly vegetarian restaurant, and all the dishes would improve for me with a piece of salmon on top....but good for a change of pace. Reasonable prices and a fun waitstaff. You can always have a steak later.

Their cheesy grits and pancakes are excellent! Be prepared for food so good, you won't even notice that there's no meat on the menus. Desserts are homemade, and food is fresh. Staff can be a little aloof....they're typically "too cool" hipsters.

You can tell that the Grit has a long established tradition. A broad menu, nice variations, a wise use of different ingredients. I had many meals at The Grit. Many were good, some were mediocre. As a vegetarian I found some combination umbearable and some entrees unforgivably uncomplete. A bad phase on the kitchen?Lack of ispiration? I am sure this... More

On a busy Sunday morning after a big game day The Grit was filled with costumers, yet the services was excellent. Our waitress made sure we had everything we needed and our food came out in a timely manner. Great vegan and vegetarian options! Though The Grit does not serve meat, do not let that fact deter you from going.

I went for breakfast, and I have always like the Grit dating back to when I lived in Athens in college. The service was poor, the food was mediocre, and the place is really dirty. I got a glass with a lipstick smudge on it, and the server seemed to be catering more to her friends that arrived after I... More

Veggie omelet great ! Grits OK, needs to do better if place is called The Grit. We are huge foodies that travel all around the world and the costumer service here was TERRIBLE! . We were polite and very patience and got treated bad. First waiter (Joe), snatched menu and got rude after I asked her one question. Come on... More

As a non veggie person I can say I was more than satisfied. For ten bucks I had the soup of the day and a big plate full of rice and beans. Staff is friendly as well. I would definitely recommend to visit this place.

Some vegetarian establishments come with a side of attitude that makes yo feel like you should be honored to be allowed in. Not so here! Warm and inviting with a really awesome atmosphere, cool decor, super friendly staff and really awesome food. Our breakfast was superb - eggs over vegetable with incredible flavor. A must stop in Athens!

Grit - not very appetizing name. Nor was the food. Oddly uppity for a place that is supposed to be counter-cultural. But, all of that aside, I found the food bland at best and simply bad at worst. Three tries and I am done.
