Great oysters last night, as usual, and outstanding service from Leila! She’s the best server we’ve ever had at George’s, and for years we have frequently gone for the Tuesday oyster special. The fried shrimp, salmon and deviled eggs are also very good. My gripe with the other food I’ve ordered is that the kitchen tends to spice things so hot that it’s overpowering. Last night it was the corn with tomatoes, served as a side to the shrimp - couldn’t finish it. Another time it was the gumbo - couldn’t finish it. If it’s too hot for a spice lover like me, it’s too darn hot. But I still love to go to George’s, I just order carefully.

Six of us went for an early dinner last Friday evening. We were greeted by the staff before we even got in the door. They opened the door for us and welcomed us in. Being there early, we were seated immediately and our server soon appeared. She brought menus, took our drink orders, and answered our numerous questions (our first time there). Then, out came the hot cheese biscuits, which were absolutely outstanding. All our dinner orders came out at the same time and prepared the way we wanted. We each ordered something different, and we all thought each was delicious. Desserts - bread pudding, chocolate mousse cake, and salted caramel cheesecake were even better than the entrees. After more customers began to come in, our server was right there with us, meeting our every need. She went over and beyond in a number of areas...just wish I could remember her name so that I could give an extra loud shout out to her.

Party of three. Two ordered eggplant pirogue, I had seared red fish with étouffée. All were excellent. Cheesy biscuits served first, nice side salads, and to-die for freshly shucked oysters. Wine by the glass was comparatively generous, about 7-8 ounces. They were busy with a couple of parties at 6 p.m. but service was acceptable and got us out at a pre-stated time to make a subsequent rngagement.

I LIKE George's! The food is usually very good. My favorite dish is Crawfish Etouffee and I have ordered it three times. Always good and always served lukewarm to cool! Come on, folks, you have the rice pre-cooked, the Etouffee (hopefully simmering) in a pot. It's not rocket science. I have requested each time that my dinner be taken back and microwaved until hot. It really is delicious, just not carefully served. My friends' diners were fine, though one lady thought the corn was too spicy.

We made a point to eat here for my birthday. I wanted oysters and they were rumored to have good ones. We ordered a fried crawfish app and oysters to start and the crawfish was so bland my husband wouldn’t eat it. The oysters were served on a small plate with no ice and weren’t very chilled. There was no saltines either. I ordered some crab bisque and a wedge for my meal and my husband ordered jambalaya. We randomly were served my husbands salad, then some time after my soup arrives and it’s cold and very bland. My salad never shows then his meal comes and it’s super bland, he said it tasted like it came from a box. I canceled my salad because it never showed and I didn’t want it with my cold soup. Service was not good either. Just a bad experience for a special night out.

Really enjoyed my recent trip to George’s. Went on Wednesday when they have a special menu for your choice of 1 meat and 3 sides. Everything I had was delicious. Some of the best collard greens I have ever had. Shrimp was very delicious. My server was very friendly and helpful.

Made reservations for seven for an early birthday supper celebration. Our server, Leila, was the most efficient, accommodating, helpful wait-person I have ever encountered. Everything we asked for was provided promptly and cheerfully. All our dinners were terrific. She brought out the cake we provided, birthday gal got her free key lime pie. bills were handled swiftly and correctly. I called the manager the next day to compliment her.

Finding George's is a challenge for first timers. It's between a pet salon and a place called the ButHut. The only sign is on the side of the building not facing the road. Once we found it, the building and patio give a French Quarter vibe. Inside is nicely decorated to continue that feeling. However, the70's/80's playlist ruins what they had gojng. Recommendation: Jazz, Blues, Neville Brothefs, Dr. John. I ordered the Crawfish Etouffee that was mostly Etouffee, very light on crawfish. My wife had the Shrimp and Grit Cake as her meal. Not a Grit Cake and very little shrimp. If you go try other items.

The restaurant is very clean and has a nice atmosphere. I thought the food was only ok. We had oysters that were delivered on a plate without ice and were just below room temperature. My jambalaya was bland which was a little disappointing for a low country restaurant and a hamburger one of my friends had was raw throughout. Our server was pleasant but did nothing to even try to remedy the raw hamburger.

Here with my wife, daughter in law and grandson. Started with a real nice bottle of La Vis Pinot Grigio. Table had popcorn crawfish app, fried green tomatoes, mussels, braised shortribs and enchilada. Everyone was very pleased. Great service from Ashley W.

George’s is a blend of creole cuisine with some low county influences. All of it is delicious. We tried the Jambalaya, crayfish étouffée, oysters, eggplant, chicken and shrimp and grits. All of it was outstanding. Great choice for a casual and delicious meal.

Not to impressed. Unfortunately we didn’t have an outstanding experience. The food was okay but not great. Service was poor. She just put everything on the table and there was no interaction whatsoever. We had have eaten here before in the old location and think it was much cozier and food was way better than it is now. Such a same but this isn’t fine dining.

Read the reviews and we decided to give it a shot today. My wife had the pork and grits and it was truly outstanding. I had the cakes and eggs (crabcakes egg Benedict). The poached eggs were well prepared. The crabcake was flavorful. I had almost no hollandaise sauce with a very dry dish overall. I saw some that came out with significantly more sauce and it looked better. The biscuits were also pretty dry and served with margarine (good food should have the option for butter!). We will try it again sometime but it was a 50/50 meal today.

We had a long weekend and stopped in our on way home. Lady answering phone super nice. Our waitress Lindsay was awesome. She kept our water filled and was very attentive without being annoying. She packed our 3 desserts to go very well. Each dessert was delicious. I included a picture of the key lime pie. We really enjoyed the beef short ribs and the gumbo soup. Everything was delicious including the biscuits before the meal. I would give it a 5 stars but for this annoying server who was dominating the conversation at the other table. He was so loud and overbearing to be distracting. I had 13 year old twins with me. One looked at me and asked why he was so loud? I shouldn't have to eat my meal Hearing your opinion about wine like you are in my lap.

We really enjoyed the laid back dining and the delicious food. The Porch Swing cocktail arrived in a pint glass and was cool and delicious without being sweet or heavy. The wedge salad was crispy with bacon and creamy with bleu cheese dressing. The gumbo was spicy Cajun style. The seared scallops were not glazed, and they were not overcooked, so their delicate flavor was enhanced, not overwhelmed, by the creamy polenta they served on. Fried chicken and tenderloin steak were generous portions. Key lime pie was delectable. No heavy gravy or sauce to bury the delicious flavor of each dish! Service was attentive. We were delighted with this dining experience.
