I always love getting a couple of dogs at the Varsity. Good food, quick service, friendly staff and nice decor. I'm from Chicago, but these dogs are not like Chicago dogs, so don't expect them to be the same. These are a different and nice experience.

If you've recently moved to Athens and are thinking that you have a clone of the Atlanta Varsity just down the street, I have some bad news. The food isn't bad, but it's not made with the expertise or care of the other locations. What you get here is only half a standard deviation better than typical American fast food.... More

I grew up going to The Varsity in Atlanta and continue to eat here since we moved to Athens. The greeting is always great and the chili dogs, onion rings and peach pie are my favorites! A tradition that I intend to keep forever!

It was a neat place to visit for the first time but their coneys were about average coming from MI I was a bit disappointed. They just didn't compare to what I am used too. The fries were delicious. I would probably eat there again but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so. The service was good... More

Good after bar scene food or good hangover food. Everything tasted great but Nothing was healthy but then again Athens is a college town

There is nothing fancy or upscale about The Varsity but it is a must-stop place to eat when you are in Athens, GA. Situated away from the hustle of downtown or the main university strip, you can line up with the masses for your dogs and burgers with slaw and anything else you please, down and delicious 1950's football style.... First time visiting The Varsity, the chili dog was delicious and the chocolate shake was too! Fast service with a smile!

The Varsity hot-dog is a staple in Athens so visit. The hot-dog is only good though if you order a side of fries. Be prepared to wipe the grease!

Either you like chili dogs or you don't. And I love these. Been eating them for years. This spinoff from the original Varsity in Atlanta has been a part of the University of Georgia culture for decades. Soft warm buns, spicy beef chili with just the right amount of grease, a good beef Weiner, yellow mustard, fresh chopped onions. If... More

The food is not my favorite---typical fast food. But I love the atmosphere. It's an Atlanta/Athens staple, and it just feels like home.
