Consistently the best restaurant experience in Athens. The vegetable plate my wife and daughter ordered was to die for. The chanterelle mushroom pasta I ordered was top notch, though I would have appreciated larger pieces of mushroom. Excellent bar and imaginative if small wine list.

The National is a Mediterranian style bistro with wonderful food and service. The prices are quite reasonable for the quality. There is also a decent variety, considering the, relatively, small menu. I usually opt for the daily fish special. But you really can't go wrong...More

Stopped in here to eat and I highly recommend it! Prices were reasonable, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was delicious! I had a wonderful salami pizette and my travel buddy had the lamb hummus on warm pita. We both made good choices!

This is a hidden gem in Athens. Had heard about this place, but for some reason had not visited. But no more ... Will definitely be back. Our entrees were great, the service even better. TRY THE PORK CHOPS!

It is very rare that I will give five stars to a restaurant, but this place was awesome! Everything we ordered was incredible and different than anything I have tasted in the last year. The best restaurant I have been to in 2016. Had the...More

I visited The National with my husband and a visiting friend. The food, wine, and cocktails were all spectacular. There aren't a lot of upscale restaurants in Athens, but The National tops the list. Thankfully it doesn't feel stuffy though. The atmosphere is relatively casual...More

Its a nice farm to table type of restaurant as I guess Athens is growing in this segment. Good food and service. I had a fish entree and it was very nice and a local beer as well. Nice and I would return.

Had the power lunch and it was delicious, filling, healthy and beautiful. Great bartender helped us with where to visit next as we were just in Athens for the day.

Loved it. Low key atmosphere and incredible food. Their hummus with is incredible, I think I'm heading back now to get more to go. The lettuce salad with goat cheese, creative and yummy. Loved the bass dish for dinner, again extremely creative.

We do take reservations! You can call 706-549-3450 or email us. We don't require reservations, but we do recommend making them as our restaurant is small and tends to fill up quickly when it gets busy. However we always... More

Open for lunch Monday - Saturday and dinner daily; our bar also remains open for coffee and tapas during the day 2:30 - 5pm. The idea behind The National is simple: to provide a casual neighborhood gathering spot reminiscent of the bars and cafés we’ve enjoyed on travels to Europe. Mediterranean inspired food and wine is served for lunch and dinner in the dining room and throughout the day at the bar. While our menu points to culinary traditions from abroad, we value our local farmers and our dishes reflect the changing seasons in Northeast Georgia.
