I ate at Mango Inn about 12 times as our 3 week scuba class was taught at their classroom / pool.
The food is great. Fresh and cooked to order. It is a bit slow at times but that's true of most of these small...restaurants on the island of Utila (or any island). The pricing is a bit higher than average for Utila but the quality makes it worth it. The best dish is probably the pizza...which is 2 for 1 on Tuesday nights! You don't want to miss that deal! (check with them before you go in case they change the night or switch to a different deal)More
The buy one get one free pizza night is pretty great but still not that cheap (highly recommend shrimp w/ white sauce on a pizza!) And the Anefre (beans and cheese dip with fresh chips) was good but other than that was pretty unimpressed with...this place. The bland shrimp scampi (no seasoning with white sauce) was especially bad and "garlic bread" was barely toasted with no butter or garlic. My partner and I ate here quite a bit because we were staying at the Mango Inn Resort. The service is terrible- takes a while get acknowledged by the wait staff or bar tenders and food can take a long time. They rarely check on the tables after order is placed (even for second drinks and have to hound them down to get the bill to pay).More
The title says it all. They have the best wood fired pizza from their brick oven on the island. Jimmy the owner is a legend. The staff are all accomodating. Definitely reccomend!
Can't wait to get back here again one day soon!
Went there twice to eat pizza and never got to eat pizza!
1st Trip: Took a moto taxi and got dropped off around 2pm. Server says they are not serving pizza (kitchen closed at 2pm) and my moto taxi had already left (waste of money)...Told me to come back at 6pm or in the morning.
2nd Trip: Arrived at 11am (next day as requested) to eat pizza for an early lunch. Server said they don’t serve pizza during the day and I could eat something else. Sat down and asked if they take cards. NOPE! (Waste of time again!)
1. The servers don’t seem excited about having customers come there and they don’t seem to care if they have the business or not.
2. Debit/Credit Cards are not accepted.
3. The phone number on this page and the Google page do not work! (Tried to call ahead).
4. Cats were walking all over the bar where people eat.
I wanted to support this local business because many of the islanders told me how good the pizza was. However, after these two negative interactions I can’t.More
We waited about one hour for the pizza. We did not get the beverages we ordered.
The price in the menu is expensive. It's even more expensive when the price, for some wierd reason, does not include taxes.
Jimmy the bar owner is wonderful! The food is inexpensive and always fresh. You can get breakfast, lunch and dinner there. The pizza from the brick oven is off the charts! The bar staff is friendly and and sociable
This restaurant is part of a larger hotel/resort. The property is very clean. We are here twice, once for lunch and once for supper. Our lunch experience was better than the supper. For lunch we had the pulled pork sandwich which was amazing. A day...later in the evening we went for their pizza. They cool pizza in a large wood burning oven in the evenings. We ordered the White Pizza (white sauce with onions and sausage). It was ok. We both felt it could have been cooked a bit longer. Also, because this is a bar/restaurant the area was filled with smoke from different people smoking. As non-smokers we struggled with the amount of smoke around us. One or two people smoking is no big deal, but there were several. It would be nice if there was another area more distanced from the direct bar area to eat. Overall, we would definitely go back for lunch and to try another pizza flavor.More
