Eating, while visiting "Tikal National Park", is not an easy task! As you will find out, after the main entering gate of the Park, the ruins are still 17 kms away. So, tour operators - when lunch is included in the tour - generally take...all groups for lunch at "Comedor Tikal", within the Park's limits. If you can skip "Comedor Tikal", do it! We hated every minute at this restaurant! Nothing is worth even remembering ... Bring your own lunch box and avoid eating at "Comedor Tikal" at all times! If you dare to, it is at your own risk ... Bon Appétit!More

BEING FILMED IN WOMEN’S TOILET: BEWARE. When I was at this restaurant, I went to the toilet and while standing up accidentally kicked the bin. The side of the bin was cut out and there was a phone with its camera positioned at the hole....The phone had been filming towards the toilet for 15 minutes when I found it (likely started recording upon influx of buses arriving). It was a perverted set up to say the least. I informed the tour guide who took the phone. There were no police to report to. The guide did nothing, nor the workers at this restaurant. I strongly got the impression this has happened before and could happen again. HORRIFIC!More

Ate here after touring the ruins. The decor is simple tables and chairs. Menu is displayed on a chalk board. Food was very good, basic Central American fare - beans and rice with stewed chicken, etc.

We had a really good post-tour brunch: omelette w/fruit and scrambled eggs w/veggies, tasty frijoles, plantains and delicious hot chocolate. Another visit for dinner involved two different chicken preparations accompanied with steamed veggies and rice, both tasty. Gallo was the only beer option, but nicely...chilled. Service was informal but friendly enough, the atmosphere austere but clean - a typical Guatemalan comida. In some ways preferable to the disorganized service, skimpy portions and overpricing at Jungle Lodge.More

We ate here after hiking Tikal all morning. Had the fried chicken and it was very good. The sides were ok but small portions.

Decent, simple food and drinks right outside Tikal Park gate. There are also hostels and camping here. But we just got a gourmet cheese sandwich and 2 beers and 4 waters. Then went to see some ruins.

We had a couple hours to kill while we awaited transport and hadn't eaten anything all day aside from some trail mix.. we were hungry. Out of the handful of eateries, we gravitated towards this one. Open air restaurant was drab but comfortable. Food took...an ETERNITY to come out. If you are on a time crunch or are really hungry, look elsewhere. Took almost an hour from the time we ordered til the time we got our food. Guessing they either forgot about us or gave our food to a bunch of tour guides that came in after us. Food was pretty lame. I had the fried chicken with fries. The fries were amazing, the fried chicken was beyond fried, it was charred to a crisp. It was like eating packaged pretzels. No bueno. I wish we would have tried the place next door, looked more authentic and friendlyMore
