We were in Pana for a week and hung out here a few nights. Really welcoming bar with good staff and a great bunch of locals to chat to.

We spend way too much time in this bar- it is the expat hangout during the day and gets a pretty good diverse crowd in the evenings with frequent live music and always Q5 tequila! They now have Mexican beer on tap.

A fantastic place to meet and great; right on the main drag in Panajachel. I ate at the barbecue this past Saturday and enjoyed the grilled Mahi Mahi very much! The side dished could use some improvement. I would definitely come back for another Saturday...More

I spent a rainy afternoon here and was well entertained by the lovely staff and others customers. The hamburger was absolutely fantastic. I do not thin it changed my life as some claim the burger does but I definetely left full and happy. Happy hour...More

I stayed one night in La Palapa on my way to Semuc Champey. The restaurant is ok, but there is almost nothing for vegetarians (cheese sandwich and fries). The dorm on the other hand was nice. The bed was very comfortable, there was hot water...More

If you ever watched the tv show Cheers you'll probably remember how everyone called out "Norm" whenever he walked in. That's the ambiance of La Palapa. Very welcoming and very easy going where everybody knows your name. Yet in no way is it exclusive to...More

Honestly, La Palapa used to be a cool place to hang out, but it has gone severely downhill in the past year. They have raised their prices, and instead of being a fun place for young people to party and hang out, it has become...More

Very creepy review. Ageist (brother to racist/sexist) attitude is a shame. Young people partying and hanging out is good but grey-haired expats are "creepy". What a small-minded attitude. We have not raised prices in over 2 years - our prices for beer, drinks and food...More

The barbecue that is served on Saturday's by Smoking' Joes is very good. The pulled pork is great and the sides are great. The beef brisket was over done so it was not as tasty. The sides are great. But, one platter could serve 2...More

Fun but loud place. Good pace to unwind after a full day. Get's pretty loud at night though. Some varied seating options which was nice.
