We have been going to Hotel Atitlan 2-3 times a year for the past 12 years. We were looking for a new restaurant with equal or better food. We found a real winner in Rincon del Chef. Chef Israel and his wife are both world class cooks and food artists to boot. The service and food are extremely personalized. Chef Israel prepared a meal for us one day that was not even on the menu. The shrimp, fish, chicken, and pork are all fresh and wonderful. I could go on raving about the great food in this obscure little place, but you must experience the food for yourself to truly appreciate gourmet food at the lake.

You’ll come here for some top 5 delicious food and you’ll have an even better experience. Chef Israyl is specialized in Mexican cuisine as well as many others. He served as a head chef at a premiere restaurant in a Hotel in Cancun and now has continued as a fantastic cook in his own restaurant where he resides now in Panajachel, Guatemala. You can tell the dishes here are optimized for freshness, flavor, and balance. For just about $27 US/210Q, chef whipped up a tasty tenderloin steak with a creamy gorgonzola sauce, paired along a soft mash of potatoes and grilled vegetables. The second time my party visited he put together the best Chicken enchilada verde I’ve ever had. Chef gathers the ingredients for the day himself at 8AM at the market and only picks the freshest ingredients. He then makes the days menu based off what the market has to offer that day, and so regardless of the menu you will be eating the absolute freshest meals you’ll have. Chef gets a 5 stars from me for an extremely affordable, filling, and delicious s gastronomic adventure. It is a must have if visiting Lake Atitlan for atleast 2-3 dinners.

Best restaurant in Atitlan! The food was incredible and the chef was very personable and accommodating. We arrived only ~30 min before closing and he provided an incredible meal with several courses. From the awards on the wall, it is clear he is a famous chef and well-accomplished in his field. Food is very reasonably priced and although located slightly off the beaten path, it is in a part of town that is still walkable or a quick tuk tuk.

Exceptional quality food, beautifully presented. Menu changes regularly and features a range of items. Chef is sincere in his dedication to fine cuisine. Also speaks English. Each meal is personally prepared with love and attention to details. You would never expect from the outside, but what you will get inside will not disappoint. This was my very first meal in Guatemala and now I think I’ve been spoiled! I’ve returned on a weekly basis and it just gets better and better!

This small restaurant in a quiet corner of Panajachel, away from the tourist district, is a true jewel. The chef, Israel, has worked internationally and on cruise ships and he prepares everything to order; last night I watched him peeling the potatoes for my French fries. Menu changes daily. Highly recommended!

A lovely welcoming Chef, great food with sauces and spices tailored to your preferences, fresh produce and a thoughtful daily handwritten menu for you to consider. Beautiful chicken, beef and vegetables.

Went here two days in a row; the best food we have had after five months of travelling. The chef is so kind and talented, and prepares different nationalities of food everyday. Ingredients are fresh everyday. 100% recommend.

More than forty years of five star hospitality experience served in one dish at the time. If you are looking for delicious food, the best fresh produce, high standard of hygiene, gorgeous presentation. Look no further, El RincĂłn del Chef is your place. The restaurant is an open kitchen concept. Chef Israel is so passionate about high quality food and great service, you feel so welcome and spoiled, like home. The price of the food is very reasonable considering the quality and quantity you receive with each meal. The restaurant is located a little further than the main area. But believe me, it is worth it. So good, we ate there multiple times during our visit to Panajachel.
This will be our go to restaurant for future trips in this area.

I highly recommend El Rincon Del Chef. I went into this little place in Panajachel and had the most amazing and fresh "Caldo Tlalpeño". It was Mexican food day, and they had a lot of options... their menu changes daily.
The price of the food is very reasonable considering the quality and quantity you receive with each meal.
Chef Israel is very attentive and kind and very passionate about food. A must try if you are in Panajachel

We were in Pana for the day and really wanted some non-touristy lunch. This was perfect! We didn’t see any other tourists on this side of yen bridge and we were welcomed by the chef himself at the door. It’s a small, seasonal menu because everything is cooked fresh to order with local ingredients. My friend loved her shrimp ceviche and my chicken rilleno was great. The chef speaks English because he used to be a chef on a cruise ship. He even called us a mototaxi when we were done. Maybe we will go back again later this week!

This restaurant is a little out of the way in Panajachel, but definitely worth it. The chef received us in a very friendly way and had a selection of attractive dishes on offer. We chose two different ones and both were excellent, showing that he really is a talented cook. There were also good wines by the glass. Prices are very reasonable, especially in view of the quality and portion sizes. Unfortunately it was our last night in Panajachel, otherwise we would have returned.

Chef Israel is a master at creating fresh non-Guatemalan meals. He has a small (6 tables) restaurant with linen table clothes and napkins that is upscale compared to other restaurants in the city. Each day he has a different theme, such as Mexican or Italian. A bit of a wait while he makes up each plate fresh. Great plating, the best food we had in Guatemala. He serves each plate himself and is the perfect host. Outstanding service and food. Don't miss it! A real treat. My wife and I went two days in a row.

This restaurant was AMAZING! The incredible chef, Israel, was so kind, took our orders, and cooked us delicious food! We had to go back a second time to try another dish because it was so yummy and the menu changes daily. I highly recommend coming here to eat. You won't regret it. It is a whole experience :)! Muchas Gracias Israel y a su familia!

We decided to eat lunch here after reading the stellar reviews and we couldn’t have been more pleased! Firstly, it’s truly special that the actual chef welcomes and is serving you- he explained to us that the menu changes daily and that he depends on the ingredients that become available. We had the sea bass which was exquisite! Also Israel who is the chef and the person who runs the restaurant was kind enough to lend us cash to pay for our tuc tuc and he afterwards added that to our bill, but that just shows you the attentive and kind person that he is. Would absolutely recommend to anyone in Pana

Fantastic dinner with Chef. We had the pincho de res y pincho de camarones. Highly recommend his restaurant and the VIP service. He is so obviously dedicated to providing a great meal and time for people who visit his restaurant.
