Had a great time at The Flying Pig. It's true that it is fashioned after an American Sports bar, but it's in Belize. Open air, casual approach with a significant connection to the local area. Music, bingo trivia...ect. It was obvious to the staff that...it was our first visit and they made a great effort to make us feel welcome. They succeeded. Food and beverage was good and the crowd was having a blast. The Flying Pig was exactly as advertised. Thanks for having us.More
Title says it all. This place is great. Just part of what makes Belize the greatest place to live. 100 Words is ridiculous u either like it or u don't. I like a crap load. If that don't say it all then what the hell...will???More
I come in a couple of times a year. This time was Bingo night. about 30 people, mostly American Expats. I kind of prefer hearing music, but I understand it caters to the community. Ordered fried chicken. Kitchen was not busy as everyone was playing...Bingo and just a few patrons at bar. No room to sit at tables due to Bingo.25 minute wait, really not acceptable. Chicken tasted great, but I waited so long, I just wanted my food and to go home.More
My hotel in Belize was on the same property as The Flying Pig. The place is a bar with 100% American food (burgers, wings, etc). I stopped there twice while on my trip. 1st time I ordered food to go. While waiting for my food,...the owner seems to greet everyone (I'm guessing regulars) and did not acknowledge me. After about 15 minutes, he asked me if I wanted a drink. When I told him that I did not, he seemed irritated and turned away from me. The second time going there (ONLY because I didn't want to have to take a taxi) I sat at the bar for 15 minute and not one person acknowledge me. The owner was busy planning bingo with the rest of the regulars so I left. The place is made for Americans. Americans that want to feel at home. They have zero belizean dishes and unless you're a regular (American), be prepared to be ignored by the owner from California. I would NOT recommend.More

Our bingo night (a fundraiser for our local rotary club) draws in a large crowd. And yes, if there are 25-30+ people in the bar I hope you realize you are not the only one drinking or eating. All of our meals are cooked per-order...unless...More
We had heard about TFP from locals who live in Placencia. They said it was a laid back fun place, so we thought we would give it a try on our recent visit. We stopped one night for a drink to check it out. Owner...was somewhat personable so we chatted a bit as there were only 2 other people there. Wings were decent but we were getting bit by mosquitos so we left. Happened to go back a couple nights later when it seemed to be hopping so we stopped again. This was a mistake. It was hopping because it was Name that Tune night. Looked like lots of fun but we were in no way, shape or form invited to play because we weren’t there at the beginning. In fact, we were told to keep our mouths shut as to not give away answers. That was welcoming!
The wait staff were friendly enough so we ordered our drinks and food. Another mistake. Got our drinks in a timely manner, but 2 of the 4 orders for food were forgotten. So, by the time the other 2 rushed , not quite done meals came out, our friends were finished with theirs. Apologies were made by the wait staff and accepted.
Here is how this experience could have been better
1.) When coming in and seeing the fun atmosphere, the owner/dj could have said over the MIC,” hey, Welch back! we’re happy you are here! We are playing NTT, if you care to play, join table 6! “ That way we would have felt welcome to either enjoy listening or actually playing the game.
2.) Had your wait staff explain what was going on so we could at least feel welcome
3.) Offered a free drink as an apology for the late arriving dinners
4.) Once the game was over most people left. This gave the owner several opportunities to come over to our table and at least say ,” hey, appreciate you guys coming back! sorry you missed the game. Come back another night and join in the fun.”
None of that happened🙄 Sorry, but we would never return to TFP if in the area.More

Well, Sorry you felt left out. With over 40 people in the bar I can not play "Mr. Entertainer" for everyone. Like you said, the game had already started. If I tried and stop the game and get people on teams every time someone walked...More

Above answers correct. During high season they are open of lunch also, as well as brunch on Sundays. On Thursday evenings they usually have a movie night where they show a movie and have all you can eat spaghetti
