Good homestyle cooking

Caye Caulker mainly has fresh seafood available and Frans does it well at an affordable price. You sit outside on picnic tables and eat with guests and share stories!

Avoid! You'll pay a premium and leave hungry. The rotund fellow on the street lures you in with delicious promises that will not be delivered. Food was mediocre at best and took an hour to be served. Portions were tiny. "Free" rum punch was unexpected but honestly only two 6 ounce cups served at their convenience and "free" rum punch... More

The waitress told us the shrimp were as large as a mans small finger. Turns out this was a gross exaggeration. They were tiny and we only had 9. We were also promised coconut curry rice but we got 2 pieces of toast instead. We had to pay in advance, 25 $ bz. It took 1 1/2 hrs to get... More

The folks at Fran's charm you as the guy on the grill shouts "my friend" but the crowd is there because of the hour wait. The "unlimited rum punch" turns out to be two small cups of pineapple juice. The coconut curry fish was tiny and slimy/mushy. The small serving of tiny "shrimp in garlic butter" was mostly zucchini and... More

I went to Frans on my visit to Caye Caulker. It looked and smelled great and Fran was very friendly. Until we had ordered...and paid. Alarm bells should have started ringing when we were asked to pay upfront. Once we'd parted with our 25bz for dinner with unlimited rum punch things changed dramatically. Fran was rude and unresponsive. We waited... More

We had snapper of the bbq (ask if they prepare it without foil! So much better) but I have strong doubts it was snapper, structuren and taste was very different. Still tasty anyways. But it had a fast food feeling.

Not a good choice. Location is nice right on the water, but everything else is not good. Unfriendly service too

I ate at Fran's Grill the first night I arrived on Caye Caulker. It is a chill place to eat. Not a lot of table but the atmosphare is cool and different since she doesn't really have a building but you eat on the seashore on tables. The service is slow or at least it was the night we were... More

The lobster was cold and so very overcooked, the mashed potatoes completely flavourless and the garlic bread.... well, that was just a sad, soggy piece of toast (two, to be fair). The included rum punch is not very good, and the rum used of very poor quality. In addition it was a long wait and too expensive compared to what... More

After walking out of a restaurant close by because of bad service, we happened about Fran's and so glad we did! Its basics for amenities, but who can complain about a wonderfully grilled lobster under the stars! Food was amazing, scenery amazing, and even some entertainment with a local land crab visiting! We loved it!
