We had a great dinner at the Hungry Grouper tonight. We ordered off the menu- sort of. The owner/chef suggested some combinations that weren’t on the menu and the one I got, blackened lobster and shrimp, was fantastic. The lobster was the most tender I’ve...had on the island. There are some comments on trip advisor about the restaurant being cash only which is no longer the case - our credit card worked just fine. Service was great, friendly, personable and answered all of our questions about other places to visit on the island. Thanks Argyle.More

We are a scuba diving group from Boulder Colorado and our trip leader found out about this restaurant from a local shop keeper. We visited last night the entire group of us, all 14 people. It was beyond delicious seafood. I had the fresh grouper...with a creole sauce and shrimp, coconut rice, and a garden salad. I could not be happier with the service for such a large group. We took up the entire establishment and Argyle, the owner did his best to make each and every one of us a wonderful meal. We will definitely be back, thrilled we found it on day 2 of our diving experience. It was election night so there was a curfew for 8pm. We all ate and left happy & got back to our hotel a 5 min walk with 20 mins to spare. The Happy Grouper is a locals place for sure. Open for business and serving excellent seafood or there were beef items on the menu for those who do not prefer seafood. Only comment vegetarian options are limited if that is what you are looking for.More

We had dinner there after reading the favorable reviews. Service was very good and the snapper was excellent. The conch curry was just OK. The restaurant is small and set on a side street away from traffic, but also away from the ocean views and...breezes.More

This place was recommended by other travelers. We were surprised it was so little and located on a side street west of downtown. There were maybe 7 tables with 7 of us eating there on a Thursday night- good food and service.

No grouper on the menu, but lots of other great dishes. Good service and quality at a reasonable price. Good value. Do not miss this place. It is tiny and on a side street next to the soccer field. Open air dining. atmosphere not great...but it is good!More

Brenda, long time resident, recommended we go here. We’ve eaten at many establishments over the last 15 days and this was by far the best! She recommended the snapper. When we arrived, they had a special with snapper and shrimp. It was delicious. You can...tell they take great care to provide delicious authentic meals. Definitely a favorite.More

Well prepared blackened snapper and excellent special. A few blocks off the water front and worth the 6 minute walk. Pictures of restaurant.

We stopped here late one night, and I'm so happy we did. Service was fantastic! The blackened Mahi Mahi was great. They had a "Surf and Surf" special that night of red snapper with shrimp. The folks that ordered that were impressed. We had a...vegan friend with us, who could really only eat the rice and beans and other sides, so the owner didn't charge him for his meal! I can see why this place is rated highly. FYI - It's a small joint so try and hit it later if you can.More
