We’ve been going to Elvi’s for years. We’ve seen the change over the years. We miss the years when a meal was 1/3 the cost of today’s menu, but one thing that has remained great is the food and service. We still make sure to dine at Elvi’s at least once per trip. We used to dine 4-6 times per visit. In fairness, pricing in general has more than doubled across the key over the last 8 years or so. Make sure to stop at Elvi’s at least once.

We thoroughly enjoyed Elvi’s Kitchen. Being vegetarian can be limiting, especially when venturing to experience authentic food. Elvi’s is known for their Mayan inspired dishes. We were pleasantly surprised that Elvi’s offered a full (enough) vegetarian menu. We ordered several dishes to share among 4 of us. For appetizers we had street corn and an avocado quinoa salad. Both were delicious, although nothing spectacular. Our entrees included: fried tacos, vegetable enfrijolada, and vegetable coconut curry. The fried tacos were full of flavor and presented more like a fried burrito. The vegetable enfrijolada tasted like a burrito and was presented in the middle of blended beans. The dish we least liked was the coconut curry. The dish was aromatic but was too sweet for our liking. We didn’t order dessert but we had ordered their special on the bar menu. It was a coconut margarita...which pretty much tasted like dessert! It’s a spacious restaurant, but you wouldn’t know it until you walk in to be seated. Their bar area is big and allows for people to wait to be seated comfortably. There are several areas/rooms you can be seated. One of the rooms has sand on the floor to give off an additional beach vibe and the tables are benches. It’s a well lit restaurant and the staff is very pleasant. We did feel we had to place our order all at once and as soon as possible because it seemed to take a while, and the wait staff did not seem to come around often. They also have live music on thurs, fri, and sat night but depending on where you sit, it's hard to hear the musician due to the loudness from a full restaurant.

The last night of our 10 day stay in San Pedro, a group of 10 of us had dinner at Elvi’s. It had been recommended by one of our friends. Added to the nice ambiance of the restaurant, our favorite Cuban guitarist, Amaurys, was playing there that night. The “bread” baskets that were brought to the table first, contained yummy cornbread. (seconds were asked for!) My appetizer was a side salad which was fresh & delicious. (having eaten in bars a lot, I was craving fresh veggies.) The house dressing was really tasty. For my main entree, I ordered fresh snapper, which was cooked in banana leaves, with a side of coconut rice........very good. We did not have time for dessert, as we had used up our 2-hour reservation time, & other people were waiting........unfortunately. Next time......... We did however, have yummy Coconut Mojitos as our pre-dinner cocktail. Service was excellent, especially for dealing with 10 people. Would definitely return to Elvi’s if we get back to San Pedro.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner at Elvis. He got the fresh fish prepared in a banana leaf and I got the chicken curry (it was some of best curry I’ve had). The ambiance is great and there was a guy there also playing acoustic guitar which was really nice. Great vibe and great food. Would definitely recommend!

We got there at 7:00 pm without a reservation for our party if 6 and they said to check back at 7:45. We probably didn’t get seated until after 8:00. They were super busy. Our waitress was courteous but busy. It took longer than expected to get our drinks, appetizers and eventually meals . The food was very tasty. Some items we wanted to order were sold out. We liked everything we ordered but the overly slow service dampened our overall dining experience. Go early or expect to be very patient and don’t go starving!

This place has standards and meets them. Tamarind margarita was delicious, a real bar tender is in charge. Curry so good that I nearly returned to eat it again for a second meal. We really appreciated the separate vegetarian menu and the fact that staff knew what could be vegan-ized without playing 20 questions. They treat you like they want you to return, instead of running a one-and-done tourist trap restaurant. Now Elvi needs to come up with a vegan dessert so that we have reason to stay a little longer.

The food and the staff were awesome. Our favorite part of the meal was choosing our fare (lionfish, whole lobster, and conch) from the man who had just caught them. He had set up a cold station with fish outside the restaurant. This was such a fun and delicious place to eat.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 out of 5 is because not only was our wait twice as long as they said it would be and our food took a very long time to get to us. We were almost late returning our golf cart on time but minutes. I appreciated I waitress apologizing for the long wait. The decor was my favorite of any of the restaurants I went to in belize. The giant, lit tree in the center was very unique and I loved looking at all the paintings around the restaurant! The dirt floor... different. Felt a bit dirty though as people likely kicked dust up while walking. Due to how late we were sat we skipped an appetizer, but they did serve warm banana bread slices which were a good hold me over. I ordered the pibil tacos which I highly recommend! They were delicious! Not overly spicy and enjoyed trying the 3 sauces that it came with! Think my meal was the table favorite. My friends ordered Mexican steak and dinner special that had a variety of fish for like $42 usd. The Mexican steak was good, cooked correctly. The fish dinner was okay but not amazing especially for the cost. The sauce was just not a good fit for the fish I feel. They do charge for water which are water bottles which was the only restaurant that did this that we visited. No time for dessert either. I'd recommend Elvi's for sure but put reservations in ahead of time! And don't have plans after in case long wait.

We went to Elvi’s for lunch and were not disappointed! Part of the restaurant has a sandy floor so that’s a novelty. E both ordered conch soup to start, it is served with delicious coconut rice. The soup had a rich flavour and was full of vegetables as well as conch and of course it is made with coconut milk as well. Then I had the Cilantro Like Fish Tacos that were served with 2 sauces, the green jalapeño sauce was great. My husband had the pot roast special that he quite enjoyed. A highlight were our caipirinhas, absolutely delicious and refreshing, not too sweet out to tart.

My three friends and I all loved our meals here! The scenery is cool as its a sand floor and the middle of the restaurant has a tree covered in lights. Our server was very helpful in helping us pick the best menu items for what we liked. We went a little later on a weeknight and it was not too crowded at all. We had the Mexican steak (amazing) Sere, and chicken creole, all very good. Our waiter even gave us a great recommendation for a spot we didn't know about on Secret Beach!

Great place for a drink and delicious dinner. Steak cooked to perfection, tender, juicy and very flavorful. Vegetables that accompanied the steak were grilled in the meat’s juices, but still maintained their true individual flavors. The Pico de Gallo was fresh and had the right amount of lime and salt. The red refried beans carried it’s flavor and texture to the fullest and seemed to melt in one’s mouth. The baked potato was not over done, instead was firm and one could bite into it enjoying the butter and sour cream that comes along with it. A place no one should miss while visiting San Pedro, Belize.

We were seated immediately upon arrival for an earlyish lunch. Our server was kind and attentive throughout. She opened the door to the airconditioned room next to us to give us some relief from the heat of the day and asked if we wished to move inside. However, we wanted the experience of sitting by the open window. Based on our server's suggestion we ordered the Coconut Curry. The curry was very mild in terms of heat (thankfully), but incredibly flavorful, creamy and delicious!

I had the jalapeño poppers, it came with four pieces. It was fat and cheesy, just the way I like it. It came with bits of shredded chicken inside the cheese. I also had the coconut curry with a seafood medley (conch, fish, octopus, crab). Unfortunately, it was almost all conch. There was one tiny piece of octopus and a piece of fish that was the size of a fun size candy bar. So that was disappointing. The coconut curry sauce was common but I like coconut curry so I’m not complaining but it was nothing special. The total was $45USD plus 12.5% tax then gratuity. The service was nice and attentive. They had a handwashing station with hand soap and hand sanitizer. I really appreciate the sanitation especially during covid. All the staff members were wearing mask and a face guard. Locals wear a mask but they don’t wear them very regularly or correctly a lot of the times; they often wear masks under their chin so I appreciate the restaurant taking it seriously here.

We were super excited to eat at Elvi's Kitchen based on all the reviews. Especially for the Friday Night Mayan Buffet. However, it missed the mark. We made dinner reservations for 7pm. (Glad we did, because when we left, the line was OUT the door!) Due to COVID, they no longer have the Mayan buffet, which is understandable, but still disappointing. Instead, they had a Mayan Platter, but it was expensive and didn't sound all that fabulous. We arrived at 7pm and were seated right away. Service was okay. The took our drink order, and they arrived very quickly, then asked to take our order, but we needed a bit more time to look at the menu. As we were looking at the menu, we noticed the table next to us got their appetizers delivered, then just minutes later their meals arrived too (I hate it when that happens). So we ordered our appetizers first, and told the waiter we were still thinking about what to order for dinner (so we wouldn't get our food all at once too). Dinner was alright... I had the Basil Pasta with Shrimp, which was good and a large serving. My husband had the Pibil (Pulled Pork) Tacos, which was 4 very small tacos, a tiny cup of refried beans, and two tiny cups of salsa (one red, one green). No rice or any other side dish. Not really a dinner-sized portion! My husband wasn't impressed. Neri's $1 tacos were better! Both meals were a bit overpriced compared to other meals we've had on the island (Neri's Tacos $1 tacos were better than Elvi's Kitchen's $25 tacos!) We ordered Coconut Pie for dessert, which was also mediocre. At this point, they asked if we were ready for the bill, like they were trying to turn our table. No desire to go back.

I am sure this place is supposed to be good, given all the recommendations I got from both locals and visitors, but my experience was just not overwhelming. I had their seafood with butter sauce. I chose conch and fish as my seafood of choice. The conch was extremely stiff (and I had very tender conch at other locations) and the worst part about the dish was that it was waaaay too salty to be edible. I think they patted the seafood with too much salt when there was plenty of salt in the butter sauce. I also ordered both fish and conch but it was 90% conch (stiff conch!) and 10% fish. I almost returned the dish because I was so disappointed and because it was so difficult to enjoy. The service was very slow too even though the restaurant was not busy.
