We were in town 2 days when a local advised us that the best REAL Belizean food could be had at El Fogon Restaurant, located back near the airport. Once haven eaten there, it became the benchmark by which all other food in Belize was measured by. The waitress was charming and obliging to meet our requests. The location was... More

We stopped by El Fogan shortly after getting off of our Tropic air flight at the suggestion of a baggage handler at the airport. (one of our bags didn't make it on our flight from Belize City). We walked the 1 1/2 blocks, being hungry from our travels. We were met at the entrance by the owner who invited us... More

We have visited San Pedro many times and Elvi's has always been my favorite (and it is still way up there on my list)... but El Fogon's specializes in seafood cooked in an open oven utilizing Belizean & Mayan style of cooking... I absolutely love the food (AND I LIKE to EAT)!

My husband decided to go eat lunch here based on the reviews on Trip Advisor and from the locals. From the greeting from our waiter Juan, the food, the drinks and the service were amazing from start to finish. I order the sautéed shrimp (tomato sauce) and my husband ordered the shrimp coconut curry. We talked about it probably every... More

El Fogon is a great place to get stewed shrimp and I imagine the other stewed meat choices are just as good. I also tried the fried fish but didn't like it as much as the stewed meat. Really good beans and rice as well.

This place was highly recommended so we tried it. the food was really good but super slow in coming and the prices are really high compared to everywhere else we ate. I don't think I would recommend going here as there are faster, cheaper better places close by.

By far the best meal we had on our two-week vacation to Belize. Ignore the few bad reviews. Every place is bound to get a few for whatever reason. But this restaurant is definitely a must in San Pedro. The sand floor and picnic tables create great island ambiance. My wife had whole grilled snapper and it was fantastic. Service... More

El Fagon was recommended by our dive instructor. The food was fantastic! We went for lunch and really enjoyed our selections. Had hoped to make it back for dinner, but there are so many wonderful choices for dining in San Pedro Town! The service was great, the location is very good.

The place looks just like it is described. To my dismay that is where the comparisons end. This was a bad meal. The blackened (they spelled it blackend) seafood special and a whole fried snapper were our choices. The fried fish was over cooked but was edible. I sent the special back because it was extremely over cooked. They took... More
