We stopped here when visiting Secret beach. We were warmly welcomed and each given a free drink.
We spent quite a long while snorkeling around the tables and under the bar checking out the fish and the baby barracuda.
The cocktails were great, large and refreshing.
The kids ate on the tables in the sea, basic chicken and fries but they enjoyed it.
The waiters were friendly and quick to serve and we felt everything was reasonably priced.
A fab way to spend the afternoon!

As you can see from the photos, this is an in the water bar scene, in the beautiful “secret beach.” When people ask “why Blue Lagoon compared to the other options,”what most told me was their location is a bit more secluded from the rest of the locations which allows for better kept grounds and a more mellow atmosphere. For me though, the other upside was one of the co-owner Obe (with wife Tracy), who also acts as one of the servers. Like many Belizeans, Obe was a warm, welcoming personality that encourages guests to relax and have a good time. Totally attentive without being overwhelming and brought a laugh to each of the groups he came to. The extra touch was appreciated. The food was delicious! I loved the ceviche and as a cilantro hater (it makes me nauseous — gene that makes it taste like soap), I soooooo appreciated they were willing to give a version without it! THANK YOU! We are only here for a week, and it’s a 45-minute trek by golf cart, yet it’s that special that we wanna find a way back.

We had the best time at Blue Bayou on a Sunday! The service was incredible - those guys swim through the water to ensure your beer buckets are never empty. The conch ceviche and quesadilla were so delicious. You can't beat eating the freshest fish you've ever had while wading in the warm sea - pure bliss. The live music and the crowd dancing was such a highlight. It was was one of our favorite days of our whole vacation and I can't wait to get back there. Hi to Cesar and the rest of the crew from the Who Dat Saints fan from Maine!

We arrived at Blue Bayou after the advice of several reviews on this site. We arrived to someone in the parking lot graciously showing us where to park and showing us to a table in the shade at a plastic folding table with plastic upright chairs. He said the waiter would be with us when available. After 15 minutes we asked someone for menus. We only got drink menus and then a waiter finally came and brought us some drinks and a food menu. He took our order and that was the last that we saw him. After two hours and us repeatedly asking where our food was we finally took the food from the kitchen ourselves to our table (not to mention the order was wrong). We were so hungry we gobbled up our dry food and left after having to check ourselves out. The food was terrible and one of my daughters ended up sick afterwards. Also, restroom facilities not clean with a clogged toilet in the ladies room. What a waste of an afternoon. Signed the hungry mom

We were staying at Coco Beach resort and decided to take a golf cart and visit this place in Secret Beach and were so glad we did. It was so much fun! You could park your cart right next to the beach and walk right into the bar/restaurant. The huge draw is all the tables and picnic tables on stilts out in the waist deep water behind the restaurant. Wade out to find a table and one of the servers will come out to take your order (take a picture of the menu/drink board before you head out). We came on a Tuesday afternoon and it was fairly packed with both tourist and locals. They play good music, offer great food and drinks and the view is amazing. We had shrimp empanadas and a few buckets of local beer and the prices were excellent. We made some friends from the island next to us and also mingled with some tourists. There were even cool fish swimming under the tables looking forward to the occasional drop of food. The sunset is amazing on this side of the island. From our resort it was only about a 15-20 minute golf cart ride to the beach. There are also a lot of other bars and restaurants on this beach, but this place seemed the most popular. I highly recommend it!

Timing is everything. We visited Blue Bayou and Secret Beach on a beautiful sunny Friday durung the first week in December. It was the beginning of the high season in Belize, but before the big influx of visitors during the Christmas holiday. We arrived at about 10:30 AM and were welcomed with a voucher for a free drink. We found a spot on the (at that point) uncrowded beach and spent a couple of hours lounging in the sun and swimming while enjoying a couple of ice-cold tropical cocktails. For the most part, we had our little corner of the beach to ourselves. It is a lovely spot, separated from most of the other establishments on Secret Beach, so it feels sort of like a private club. The vibe, like most of Belize, is laid back and easy. Island time sort of drifts past without much notice. The water is stunning: Crystal clear, and you can walk out at least a hundred yards and still only be not much more than waist deep.It was a lovely, relaing way to spend a morning.
After a couple hours on the beach, we opted to venture up into the bar/restaurant for lunch, rather than sit at one of the tables in the water. This was our second trip to Belize and the high quality of the food served at many of these uber-casual waterfront establishments should not surprise us at this point, yet it continues to do so.
Lunch consisted of Shrimp Curry with Coconut Rice, and Chicken Kebabs with a Garden Salad. Both were Delicious and beautifully presented as was an appetizer of Chicken Nachos which easily could have been an entree. The view of the water from the bar deck was a perfect back drop to an excellent meal. the bar was bustling and active but overwhelmingly crowded and service was, as expected friendly and casual. Our food came out in a reasonable time. Remember this is island time, so things are not rushed as they sometimes are back home. and that's a good thing. The Coke i had with lunch, arrived in a glass bottle and is made with "real sugar" the old fashioned "Real Thing" Coke.
All in All Blue Bayou was/is a great place to spend a sunny day at the beach.

We had a fun afternoon, coming on a boat trip. Very fun, buckets of beer cold, and simple appetizers were very good. We thought ambience could not be beat (in the water), and we had very good service considering they have to carry out to the picnic tables in the water. Would definitely come back - especially after seeing all the other options at Secret Beach walking down entire beach.

Watch your bill, they will over charge you and not show you an itemized bill of what you owe. If you total up what we ordered and compared it to the prices posted on the wall we were over charged $150 US dollars. There is not much you can do because they hold your credit card while you are enjoying your day.... big scam

Hi Mary!
We are so sorry you that had this type of experience with us and that you thought this way about your bill.
To start off with your concerns we do give you an itemized bill if you pay by credit card since it’s a customer copy that comes from the machine
If you payed by cash you could always request from the cashier a written itemized bill or taken a picture of your bill since we need the yellow copies for our own taxes
But seems like you didn’t request one as a result you feel like we scammed you
If you thought you were overcharged why didn’t you say anything, ask the waiters questions or go through the bill with the cashier?
She is more then happy to do that for you to ensure you are happy with that you got and the prices
We do charge GST and we do write it for you on the bill so you know exactly what you were paying as with all of our prices
As for holding your credit card we don’t hold it hostage
As soon as you come our waiters explain our rules We either ask for an ID, Golf Cart keys or a credit card to hold your tab if you wanted to start one otherwise it’s pay as you go since we have had customers leave without paying in the past
If you wish to discuss this further, or have any more complaints please email us at bluebayoubelize@gmail.com

If you know Caribbean food, the food here is lacking in every sense of the word. There was no flavor, and we ordered multiple items from the menu. Not coming for the food? Okay let's move on to the drinks....WEAK. The drinks were very weak, we ordered the better of their tequilas and rum, and still could not taste the alcohol in either of drinks. Here for the music only? Okay, well you can't hear it! The music from the neighboring bars is even louder and competing with their music so it would be better if no music was playing (not their fault, but something to note). The staff was decent though, friendly.
The only reason why I don't completely regret wasting half of my day getting to secret beach to go to Blue Bayou is because I took a great photo on one of their benches in the water (which is pretty cool).

We spent a late afternoon here after visiting several other Secret Beach bars. When we arrived, we waited nearly 30 mins for someone to help us, and once we were able to flag someone down, we received our first drink (plan on 45-min to an hour to get a drink from when you first arrive). This wasn't the worst. Once we got our bill, we were mis-calculated by over $100 USD. There were 3 of us, we each had 2 drinks, a shot, and we ordered two appetizers. Our bill with a tip came to over $400, and that was with a cash discount. What a racquet. We paid a third of that next door (literally a third and literally next door) for more drinks and food the day before. Will never visit again. Good riddance.

Hi Andrew!
We are sorry your had this type of experience with us and felt that you were overcharged.
Yes you are right we arent the cheapest on the beach on somethings but it depends on what you ordered if it was top shelf or doubles or what kind of shots it was but when I comes to our quality of food, drinks and our customer service that’s where we are the best on the beach
Many other customers are very happy with our services and our prices
If you didn’t order from our All Day Happy Hour menu and didn’t order the local appetizers then yes the prices go up
Maybe what you ended up ordering wasn’t in your price range after all
Maybe you are mistaken about the Belize to US conversion since all of our prices are in Belize and many if not all the other bars charge in US
If you weren’t happy about our prices, or seemed like you were overcharged, why didn’t you ask our waiters or cashier when they gave you the bill?
Our staff are more than capable and more than happy to help you or fix whatever issues you thought there were
If you have any other pressing matters, concerns or complaints, please email us at bluebayoubelize@gmail.com
Thank you!

While Blue Bayou may have positive attributes, I was unable to experience them due to their loud and vulgar music. We stayed on Secret Beach and tried to spread our money around among all the businesses, ordering dinner and having a couple drinks there one evening. The music was so cacophonous that we couldn’t hear each other and left, taking our food to go. The sheer volume is such that it can be heard the full length of Secret Beach, driving away customers (We had the “why is it so LOUD?” conversation with several.) We LOVE Secret Beach and have visited several times and their music was not at that level. I would hope that the other businesses owners could come to an agreement with them to turn down the music as it is detrimental to all the businesses.

Hi there Penny
We are so sorry you had this type of experience with us and we never meant to offend you in any way, shape or form cause that is not us.
You probably came on the weekend where we do have a DJ and we can’t control the type of muisc they choose to play and nor the volume they have it on. We would like to make a point that we do suggest what muisc we would like to be heard when they play and the volume but it’s up to them. We have had several conversations and issues with other business owners next to us about their level of music and how they like to point their speakers right at us so we can’t hear our muisc to the point were customers ask us why they do that to us
I’m sure your not aware of these past issues
We have had to make ajustmemts since these problems with these other businesses
Thank you for the criticism, we will take it and act upon it accordingly
If there are any other suggestions, issues and any other needs please email us
Thanks!

I wanted to love it here and gave 3 out of 5 stars because the seafood platter we were talked into was over cooked and flavorless. The grouper, shrimp and lobster were tough to chew and for almost $50 US it was a real disappointment. The staff was friendly and the curry was delicious though.

Maybe they call it "secret beach" for a reason. This place is wayyyyy off the beaten path, but worth every minute of the drive over the bumpy, pot-holed road. Great food, great music, great views, and if you want to eat at a table out in the water, you can do that too.

Nice spot but not many loungers. Food was very slow to get to us- like an hour and 15 Minutes so be prepared. Music was good and not too loud. Kinda tight and cramped on the shore but lots of tables in the water. Went to Sunset palace earlier this week and preferred it due to more space, loungers, and faster service. Prices about the same.

So very disappointed with the service, food and response to our concerns today Feb 16. After an hour of waiting for our food they proceeded to tell 3 of the 6 of us that there were no buns for the burgers. However 3 meals came out but still not correct. After voicing our concerns, they comped one bucket of beer. The co-owner didn’t give a crap about the service or the lack of communication. Won’t be back!!
