The specials of the week were very tasty: green fried tomatoes topped with crab cakes, and hog wings - unusual and wonderful. My only concern is that there is no awareness of the dangers of Corona: the waitresses and the chef when he came out were not wearing masks. I understand that people have personal preferences and decide accordingly but in a business catering to all customers, I would have expected more sensitivity.

On our way from Key West, my husband and I decided to take US-27 north to see small Florida towns. We opted to stop in Avon Park to stay the night. Right across the street from historic hotel Jacaranda is 18 East Restaurant and Bar. This is a must visit place. To start, our server Kristin was informative, friendly, and amazing. As we talked, she was from the same town in the panhandle of Florida. What a small world. Additionally, many other servers and staff interacted with us and it was just an overall amazing experience. Then we met the owners Dave and Stephanie. These folks have created a wonderful menu and back it up with great taste and service. We shared the rice balls which were incredible. I’ll do my best at describing it - meat, cheese and rice made into a meatball of sorts and fried, then served with a delicious marinara. You have to try it. Trust me. I had a perfectly cooked and super delicious medium filet served with twice baked potato and flash fried green beans. My husband did a grilled Grouper salad. Compliment that with some drinks and voila. What a perfect evening and dinner. If you’re in the area or passing thru this area. You have to check out 18 East. You’ll be pleasantly surprised with the dining experience. ***I took the picture on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 6am EST. ***

The four of us were impressed with the food served here.

We had a wonderful dining experience here - friendly service and delicious food, prepared by people who obviously care about their reputation. I highly recommend this establishment, whether you're up for something as simple as a burger, or if you craving something as special as seafood ravioli. The chef even approached our table and ensured that we were pleased with his dishes. It's a bit dark and noisy for my taste, but the food makes you soon forget about that. All four of us agreed that we'd be returning.

Small, quaint restaurant. Great ambiance. Excellent food & service. Best steaks in the area. Entertainment on weekends. Dave, the owner, cooks, oversees, & comes out to check on customers. Hands on, 1st class place.

Don’t do it. You’ve been warned!

Terrible food and even worse service. Waited an hour for our food order and had to get up and find waitresses just to get a drink refill. When the food finally got there, it was over cooked and obviously cooked in dirty old grease. When I ask about the long wait for food, one of the waitresses advised us, it was due to a small kitchen and only one cook. Totally unacceptable and I would not advise anybody to waste your money here.

Food was amazing! I had the roast beef Ruben, and onion chips. Mom had the pork tenderloin sandwich which was enough for two people. We also split the wedge salad which was very fresh and good. The staff were very friendly, to include the owner who came to our table and took pictures with us. Good time and good food, I would definitely recommend this place!

Excellent Experience and Food

My wife and I stopped in last night for a quick bite before our son's football game at the local high school. What a pleasant surprise! We were greeted and seated immediately. Our adult beverages were served quickly. Then, dinner. I had the salmon filet off the menu, and it was one of the best meals I have ever had. Truly. My wife had the wedgie salad with grilled chicken and devoured it. During our short visit, the owner (and chef), as well as the managers, stopped at the table quite a few times to check on us. If we lived closer, we would be regulars here. Highly recommend.

FUN AFTER THE TRACTOR SHOW

My husband and I spent a few nights at the Jacaranda Hotel, Avon Park. We enjoyed this Restaurant & Bar, across the street, 18 EAST MAIN STREET. The Staff was very friendly. The Owner/ Chef went out of his way to come out and visit. Food was fabulous! It was our Go To Place.

Not to be missed!

Well-appointed restaurant with great drinks, food, and friendliest staff ever. The attention to detail is noticeable and food is quality-driven. We had an EXCELLENT Old Fashioned, Arancini appetizer, steak filet, and tastiest ravioli with seafood sauce! Every item was made with fresh ingredients and we cannot wait to go back!!

Great Restaurant!!

Owned by the friendliest people on earth, and the staff is tops!! Last time there we had Halibut over a bed of greens. Fish was perfect, the greens had glazed nuts and blueberries with a raspberry sauce. I vary rarely order fish when I dine out, but this was terrific! We'll be back often.

Hidden Gem in Florida Heartland

The food was amazing. Simple dinner like fish over salad and prime rib Rueben were prepared in interesting ways. The staff was friendly but the service was slow. It may have been that’s it’s near Xmas so we will definitely come back when we are up here again

Great food!

Last night was my first time going here. I’ve been to about every restaurant in Highlands County. I’m very picky. Not once have I ever had a burger cooked to a perfect medium. The seasoning on the burger was just right. The crazy fries (I think that’s what they were called) were amazing. They had the desired crisp every fry should have. Very underrated restaurant compared to the others that get all the hype in Highlands County. Pricing was fair. The atmosphere was great. Can’t wait to go back and get the steak!

The food was outstanding, the waitstaff was friendly and efficient, and the owner remembered us on our second visit. A wonderful place for special occasions or just casual eating. Only drawback relates to not being open more often, but I didn’t penalize them.

Best restaurant in the area

We stopped while passing through Avon Park and we were so glad that we did. Both of us got the grouper special. It was simply delicious. The caramel cheesecake was yummy too. Our waitstaff was attentive , helpful and friendly. Will visit this place again.

Fantastic dinner!

I was just here & had a wonderful dinner with a friend. Service was attentive & prompt. We had an amazing appetizer special of clams with pork belly & it was delicious. We then had filets, hollandaise, twice stuffed potatoes, & green beans. Everything was cooked perfectly & delicious. The steak was a very nice filet with a nice seared outside & a perfect medium rare. We will definitely be back again!
