Visit Apalachicola FL and do not miss Hole in the Wall. It’s in the middle of town. Reasonable priced seafood. Fried, grilled it’s all done perfectly. Shrimp oysters or fish done the way it should be. Soft drinks, beer and wine served. I live in...Apalachicola and we eat there 2-3 times a month. You can buy fresh seafood to go and cook it at home.More

Oh my gosh!!!… it’s a small place but they have the BEST BAKED OYSTERS, BEST PEEL AND EAT SHRIMP, BEST FRIED SHRIMP, !!! I’m sure everything else is great that’s just what we ordered! Our waitress Barbara needs prayers she was working with a messed...up hip!! She was great!More

I have never been so humiliated in my life guy shucking oyster’s said my husband must have married me for my money. Never got a menu or asked if we wanted a drink. People sat beside us at least 15 min after us(at bar Thurs...afternoon) asked where they were from what do they want to drink. We didn’t even get that courtesy of water. Food looked decent-oysters large from Louisiana. Waitress/owner was from the Seinfeld episode’s from soup kitchen awful and bitter. NEVER recommending or going back-maybe the “authenticity” will entice you but I seriously recommend to avoid. We are from the area and so disappointed.More

We loved this place, the people who work there made it so much fun. We had fish baskets and a dozen raw oysters while we watched the interactions between the staff and it was great. Cold beer, fun staff and good food. That's all.

Waited a long time to get a table.Food was decent, service was terrible, felt like I was a burden for being a paying patron. Had to listen to bickering between the one waitress and owner the entire time. I’ll definitely pass them up in the...future.More

How do you average wonderful food and absolutely horrible service? I can ignore the mouthy, rude waitress, but we felt totally ignored, and practically had to beg for a menu and to get someone to take our order. My grilled grouper and hush puppies were...delicious, and my hubby really liked his oysters Rockefeller. Unfortunately, I was completely finished with my meal and they still hadn’t brought his … when we finally were able to get someone’s attention to ask about it, the response was “oh - I forgot - do you still want them?” 3:00 on a Tuesday afternoon and they were reasonably full, but not an unusual crowd. Great food can’t overcome very poor service, especially when it doesn’t even appear they try to do better or even care about you if you aren’t a local. Won’t go back, and don’t recommend.More

Great place - kids loved it and so did we. Got to be best grouper we’ve had. Staff friendly, food hot. Ate at more expensive places in Apalach that were no way near as good.

The Hole in the Wall is a unique place. They have hats displayed on the walls. It was fun to look at them to see where all the hats came from. Skip the wine and go for the beer. Got to go there to say...you were there.More

Ordered grouper baskets. The grouper was awful. Tough, some was brown colored and mushy. Filled up on the hush puppies. They were very good.

The name describes the place but not the food. The food was excellent! This is a place they will finish a story about who’s done what in town before coming to get your drink order. The vibe is perfect. We did a stop over on...the way up from Captiva/Sanibel and I’ll be honest, the peel and eat shrimp, raw oysters, and Grouper were better than anything we had down there for a third the price. We highly recommend it.More

I love this place. Now live in Idaho but drive by there each spring and fall for the oysters and, yes, the atmosphere of the place. Just read the “terrible” reviews and this is what I think: This is a great place for oysters etc...IF you know how north Florida works. You show some respect to staff, you talk to staff the right way (kinda the same), and you settle in and thank God that places like this still exist It’s not a fancy place, and you leave your impatience at the door. This place gives you a chance to sit back, relax, and experience how old Florida used to be.More

My kinda place, great oysters and seafood. No nonsense drink list and a waitress with personality. We’ll be back again, a real treat with an old Florida vibe.

If you’re overly sensitive or easily offended you should probably just stay in your shell. If you can roll with the punches and want to eat some pretty dang good food in a dive bar, you should give this little place a try. Barbara, who’s...reputation precedes her is a mouthy, politically incorrect, no filter kind of gal. (Roll with it) She is likely to tell you she “don’t give a s**t what you need”, if you tell her you need a fork. (Heard it with my own ears - roll with it. ) Not sure if it’s her shtick or if she genuinely just has a bad attitude. We adored Barbara. The food… The smoked trout dip was very good, the raw oysters were fresh and pretty great, the gumbo was just so-so, the crabcake was OK but nothing to write home about, but the grouper was delicious and perfectly cooked. Beer and wine only, but it’s a good bang for your buck. All in at $100 with tip, 2 beers and 2 glasses of crappy Sutter Home merlot, plus free entertainment. I’d go back, if for no other reason than to hear Barbara tell me how handsome my man is and that was going to steal him! 😁More
