The commitment to tending to the needs of their devotees is obvious— rearranging the dining room with clear plastic dividers, social distancing in both bar and dining rooms, expanding tables out into the parking lot under tents all to make sure they can serve the...maximum amount of people in Covid times. We watched in awe at the take out “machine”, the well-oiled assembly line area tightly organized to get the food into the hands of the customers—stunning to observe. We were lucky enough to get a dine-in spot where we enjoyed a fabulous meal typical of this location. We started with one of their famous stone pies, cooked in the open air brick oven. The seemingly simple Pomodoro pie, thin crusted with a fabulous crispy crust reminiscent of fried dough, topped with fresh crushed tomato, seasoning, basil and mozzarella, was out of this world. My companion and I ordered it to start thinking we would box at least half of it to take home—ha!! It was so good, so addictive, it was gone before either of us knew it! Although both of us had eaten quite a bit, when the Tuscan salad and the eggplant lasagna to share came, somehow we had room. The combination of flavors in the salad, chunks of browned garlic with mixed greens, tomatoes, mozzarella, olives and lightly toasted polenta forming the croutons, all drizzled with a balsamic/olive oil vinaigrette, is simply perfect. For all those counting their carbs, the egg plant lasagna has absolutely no pasta, just thinly sliced eggplant with the house fresh tomato sauce, and combination of cheeses— outstanding! As usual, the staff was on point, and Bonnie our waitress was quick, thorough, polite and helpful. A time honored establishment that continues to excelMore

I loved the food. Everything was wonderful but the coconut cake for dessert was a show stopper. Highly recommended.

Justin is a great waiter. Very attentive and efficient. Bartender is good. Good drinks. The fried calamari was excellent. Caesar’s salad OK, nothing special. Gnocchi very good but I prefer a cream sauce. The eggplant lasagna is very good. Now for dessert. The coconut cake...is outrageously good. And the portion is big enough for three or four. A good restaurant.More

I had the pleasure of having a take-out order of Penne al Buttero last evening. It was fantastic! Even more so, I was pleasantly surprised at the accompanying roasted garlic bulb, bread and olives! I wasn’t expecting it and it brought a little bit of...Max home with me. Nice touch!More

Excellent food with great service. Everything about this restaurant is wonderful. The only thing that can be challenging is that it’s rather cramped inside.

We have not visited Max a Mia for dinner for far too many years. We know regret we awaited so long to return. Our main entrees were superbly prepared and exquiste to our taste senses. The pre-tasting dishes were classic Italian offerings of; olives, peppers,...roasted garlic to spread on fresh baked artisan breads, and with a side of restaurant prepared red sauce for dipping. Our server, Jacob was highly engaging in his wine and dinner recommendations for us to consider. Very helpful to our decision of entree selected. Everything was beautifully staged for a delightful dining experience. We rate Max a Mia now to be our #1 restaurant in the Valley ,after dining at so many other restaurants in the Valley that have lost their "luster" for superb cuisine and service. We will be happily back soon!More

Once again Max delivered their over the top wonder service and food with Ashley as our server. With Ashley we always have superb service; a glorious time and a fine dining experience. The calamari was served hot, tender and exceptional. The bread was warm and...fresh out of the oven; delicious and refreshed as needed and requested with freshly grated cheese. Our Tuscan salads just as ordered; mine with blackened salmon and the other with blackened shrimp. The polenta crotons an extra special touch; warm and delicious. Ashley checked on us frequently; she is a real asset to the Max team! Our best wishes to the Max team for a happy, healthy and safe holidays!More

Open table reservation, seated immediately. The server took our water order, then brought the water and took our drink order-after my wife tasted the wine, the server offered a 1/2-price bottle (great deal). She took our appetizer and salad order. Bread, salad, and appetizer all...brought at the same time. We then asked if she was going to take our dinner order, which was done while we were eating the salad. I had the wood-fired mushroom appetizer. It came as a mess (or mass) of chopped mushrooms and ricotta, over a soggy piece of crostini (crostini without the crost) and topped with a raw sunnyside-up egg. The clear albumen of the egg had not turned white yet. The chopped salad was ok. Eggplant lasagna was hot, nice sauce, but not 'al dente'- it was a consistent texture-soft. My wife's Chicken Grigliata had ok pasta, too glumpy of a cheese sauce, and the chicken was overcooked and dry. The homemade wood-fired bread was great, but also served in the basket with regular old italian bread, which was average. Not a great meal from a usually very good restaurant. Total with tip ~$115More
