Great Mexican food. One of my favorites in Denver for lunchtime. Chips and salsa are very good and the Mexican Hamburger is the best I've ever had. Green chili is toasty, in a good way. Great family owned business that has had the same staff for a long time. Always great service and very welcoming when you arrive. Keep up... More

Excited to take our out of town guests for our recommendation for great Colorado Mex! La Cueva, please take this constructively. Our experience last night was very disappointing. We made a reservation, but the table was not ready... The service was only so, so (not rude, just not the energy and excitement that helped build our opinion). The $$ rating... More

Interesting place. Loved the server, Patricia, couldn't have been more helpful or nicer. The salsa is pretty good. The enchiladas were just gooey. Horrible texture. Had a bean burrito and bean tostado, both were decent. The Queso was very good but very bland. For the record, the Queso appetizer is huge! The homemade flour tortillas were good but not the... For 30 years this was our favorite place for chile rellenos and fabulous green chile. The salsa was great as well. The whole place rocked almost every night. No more. The prices have risen and the quality has declined. I have always felt slightly resentful that the margaritas were almost devoid of alcohol. On more than one occasion over the... More

The food here is not 100% authentic Mexican. This is classified Tex-mex in my book. Service was okay but will not be returning again. Really wanted to have a positive outlook on this place, but it didn't happen. Service was decent.

Our friends told us about a great authentic Mexican restaurant they had discovered since their move to Denver. The waiter brought us a small basket of chips and bowl of salsa. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas which was $35 and nothing special. My husband and I shared a chicken dish. The chicken was so tough, not stringy, but rubbery,... More

The crab enchiladas are to die for! It's packed with real white lump crabmeat. Love the salsa and green chili too. The specialty margaritas are great! I usually get the Norma. If you've never dined here, when you do it'll become your new favorite Mexican restaurant.

The Nunez family has been doling out cuisine from Guanajuato, Mexico, since 1974 at this storefront eatery in the rebounding old downtown of Aurora. While service can be a little hit-or-miss, we've found the food to be consistently fresh with the fiery green chile with pork chunks a particular favorite. Specialties like the carne asada take longer to prepare, so... More

Their dishes are some of the best in the metro-area. Always top on the list with Westword, Yelp and native Aurorans!

I travel to Aurora on business occasionally and have chosen to eat at La Cueva every trip. A small, family run business that serves terrific Tex-Mex. Service is very good. Try the La Cueva Queso appetizer as we get it every time and it's always a hit.
